iPhone Duo screen cracked after a few hours of use
(Dan Tri) - Some iPhone Duo users said the device's internal screen had cracks along the hinge area just a few hours after use.
iPhone Duo officially opened for sale on October 23. Just a few hours after the first devices arrived, some images of cracked internal screens began appearing on Reddit and the MacRumors forum.
According to MacRumors, the notable common point is that most of the damage is concentrated right along the hinge area in the middle of the screen. Some devices also have a strip of bright pixels pulling horizontally to one side after the screen is cracked.
Screen cracked after less than 20 turns on the phone
The most detailed shared case comes from a user in Australia.
This person said he had owned the iPhone Duo for about 6 hours and opened the device less than 20 times. Most of the time the device is used to restore data from iCloud.

When opening the phone to show a friend, the owner felt something unusual in the hinge area below the internal screen. As he continued to open the device, he heard a cracking sound and the screen was broken right along the fold line in the middle.
According to the owner, before the incident there were no traces of impact on the surface of the screen or the outside hinge, nor were there any signs that foreign objects were stuck in the device.
The user then contacts Apple. According to MacRumors, when bringing the device to the Apple Store, the device was exchanged for a new iPhone Duo.
In addition to the above case, some other images also show iPhone Duo phones with broken internal screens in approximately the same position.

Notably, some of the devices experiencing problems were display units in stores in China, where the iPhone Duo began selling a few hours earlier than the US. However, the usage circumstances of most of these devices have not been determined.
Display machines often have to go through a large number of folds and opens and are used continuously by many people. Therefore, the possibility of external impact or unusual usage as the cause of damage cannot be ruled out.
It cannot be concluded that iPhone Duo has design errors
Although the images have similarities in the location of the damage, the number of recorded cases is still too small to conclude that the iPhone Duo has a widespread screen or hinge failure.

Apple has not announced the cause of these cases, has not given the number of devices affected and has not confirmed the existence of design or manufacturing errors.
The Verge said Apple had not responded to a request for comment on the issue at the time of publication.
On the contrary, some product reviewers have tested folding and opening the iPhone Duo many times before the official sale date without experiencing screen cracking.
This shows that the reports on the first day were not enough to identify a systemic problem.
MacRumors believes that Apple will likely take back broken devices to analyze the point where the problem occurred and determine the cause.
