(Dan Tri) - A video circulating on social networks shows that the iPhone Duo's internal screen has many ripples and wrinkles after the nano-texture coating is peeled off.

The video was shared by the Ice Universe account on Twitter on October 22. In the video, a user peels off the frosted coating on the iPhone Duo's internal screen. Once this layer is removed, the screen surface underneath appears less flat, with ripples, bumps, and wrinkles visible to the naked eye.

The image is notable because Apple previously emphasized the ability to reduce the clarity of folds on the first foldable iPhone model.

The video shows that the iPhone Duo screen surface has many ripples and wrinkles after the nano-texture coating is peeled off the internal screen (Video: Ice Universe/Twitter).

However, the peeled part is not a normal protective sticker.

This is a surface coating located on the folding screen and is part of the display structure. Apple has confirmed that this layer can be replaced when degraded; In the US, coating replacement is also listed in the AppleCare+ service category.

Therefore, the bottom surface showing ripples after intentionally peeling off the coating does not mean that the iPhone Duo will encounter the same situation when used properly.

The coating helps smooth out creases

According to Apple, the screen in the iPhone Duo uses a nano-texture finish to reduce glare, reflections, and the visibility of creases in the middle of the screen. The top coating is made from a custom polymer that is up to 40% more durable than some similar materials in the industry, incorporating a scratch-resistant layer.

Underneath there's also highly durable glass, optical adhesive that allows the layers to slide past each other when the screen folds, and a titanium plate to increase rigidity.

Apple doesn't claim to have completely eliminated the fold. The company only says that the matte finish and screen structure help reduce the visibility of this area.

Apple vice president of hardware engineering Kate Bergeron also previously confirmed that the matte coating plays a role in making the fold less prominent. She said the coating can be replaced if it wears out over time.

Not completely new technology

Nano-texture is not a completely new technology from Apple. The company has used this surface on the Pro Display XDR, Studio Display, iMac, MacBook Pro, and iPad Pro to scatter light, reducing reflections and glare.

The other thing about the iPhone Duo is that Apple integrated nano-texture into the flexible polymer layer of the folding screen, while also taking advantage of the translucent properties to make the folds less noticeable.

The video partly shows the role of surface coating in masking visible deformations on the folding screen structure.

The image after this layer is peeled off is not enough to conclude that the device has a screen error or has durability problems.

Actual durability still needs more time to be verified when iPhone Duo is widely used and goes through many folding and opening cycles.
