August 20 is the deadline for 13 million subscribers whose information has not been standardized

(Dan Tri) - According to information from the Department of Telecommunications, there are about 13 million phone numbers at risk of being revoked if the subscriber does not complete the verification of owner information before the August 20 deadline.
This is the result of the campaign to standardize subscriber information according to Circular 08 to clean up the database and manage mobile SIMs more strictly. To date, telecommunications businesses have transferred data of more than 114 million subscribers to the national population database, of which more than 96 million numbers have been successfully confirmed.

The processing roadmap for non-standardized subscribers is carried out through many strict stages. Previously, from June 15, nearly 18 million subscribers who had not been authenticated had their one-way service suspended by network operators.
After 2 months of implementation, the report noted that more than 3.8 million subscribers have standardized to restore communications. However, there are still nearly 13 million subscribers who are one-way locked.
If this group does not perform authentication before August 15, subscribers will be locked out of both directions. After 5 days (August 20), the phone number will be officially revoked and returned to the number store.
Resolutely reviewing the owner's SIM is considered a necessary step to build a safe and transparent telecommunications environment. According to the Department of Telecommunications, mobile SIM is currently one of the most commonly abused tools to spread spam calls and spam messages. Standardization will help limit this situation and protect users' rights.

In addition, new legal regulations such as Decree 174 also impose administrative fines ranging from 200,000 VND to 50 million VND depending on the number of violations for using incorrect documents or those of others to register subscriptions.
To help people avoid having their numbers revoked, carriers such as Viettel, VinaPhone and MobiFone have deployed many flexible authentication methods. Users can authenticate themselves at home through the carrier's application combined with the VNeID application (for level 2 identification accounts) or go directly to transaction points.
Network operators have also proactively adjusted store opening hours, and maintained home support hotlines for priority groups such as the elderly and people with disabilities to ensure no one is left behind in this digital transformation process.
