3 days 2 nights with LG OLED Evo G5 AI: immerse and immerse yourself in content

LG OLED Evo G5 AI (OLED77G5PSA) is one of LG's most high-end TV lines launched in 2025. This TV made a strong impression right from the first experience with a 4th generation OLED Evo panel that is 47% brighter than the previous generation (APL 10%) and the signature "One Wall" Gallery design. However, that is not all it brings me after stressful hours of work.
It's been a long time since I've had the opportunity to experience an OLED TV. When talking about OLED, we definitely have to mention LG and since the G1 generation 4 years ago, LG's OLED TV line has had outstanding improvements. The experience of watching movies or playing games produces extremely sharp images, vibrant colors and deep contrast. The accompanying audio is also upgraded with a virtual multi-channel system and Dolby Atmos technology, providing a more vivid surround effect. In addition, smart AI features (such as “Hi LG” voice interaction, automatic image/sound settings) help optimize personal experience.
4th generation OLED technology

The 4th generation Evo OLED panel on the G5 maintains the absolute black advantage and infinite contrast inherent to OLED, because each pixel lights up independently. Thanks to that, when watching movies in a dark room, dark areas become perfectly "black", without any light leakage or backlight segmentation like LCD TVs.

LG also introduces "Perfect Black & Perfect Color" on more than 8.3 million self-lit pixels, helping colors display accurately and vividly even in bright room conditions. Practical experience shows that blockbuster movies and artistic scenes are recreated almost original. In particular, with the 4th generation panel combined with Brightness Booster Ultimate, G5 has the ability to significantly increase brightness. According to LG, the G5 is 45% brighter than the G4 thanks to this technology.

It doesn't stop there, because the way the TV is placed in the user's home space will be different, so LG equips the Bright Room Ready feature, which helps the TV reduce glare when a strong light source shines on the screen. LG has been certified by UL as the OLED G5's panel for a glare index of UGR<22 (standard for not causing eye strain). Combined with an advanced anti-reflective coating, the screen has almost no mirror shadows even in well-lit rooms. Practical experience, when placing the TV near a bright window, the image is still clear and does not have annoying shadows or glare like many other types of TVs. Overall, the G5's new generation OLED evo technology produces brilliant, realistic images, with sharp shadow details and object outlines.
Alpha 11 AI Gen2 processor

According to LG, this is the most powerful chip generation today, capable of processing many times more than previous chips. In fact, when trying low resolution content (SD/FHD), the α11 chip impressively helps upgrade to near 4K quality. The chip's AI Super Upscaling feature will analyze the frame, enhance details and reduce noise, making images look sharper and more natural.

In terms of audio processing, the G5 supports AI Sound Pro, which can simulate 11.1.2-channel virtual surround sound with just the built-in speaker, along with Clear Voice technology to enhance dialogue. Simply put, with just one set of built-in speakers, the LG OLED G5 can reproduce sound like when you use a sound bar with multiple drivers combined. Of course it's not as perfect as a real sound bar, but it can still give the viewer a certain feeling.

The sound bar is as thin as the TV.

In addition, the Alpha 11 Gen 2 chip also handles other AI tasks such as automatic color balancing, HDR content optimization, and panel performance management. When quickly switching between different brightness levels (playing fast action, sudden light and dark scenes), this chip helps maintain even brightness and balanced colors. AI and webOS 25 features deliver a much smoother experience than previous generations. For example, when you open a movie on Netflix or Apple TV, AI will automatically recognize and switch to Filmmaker mode. Most of the AI features I tried with this TV responded quickly, without any lag or slowness. Not sure what it will be like after a long period of use, but the start is very good.
Experience the gaming that OLED TV G5 brings

With powerful PC systems, you can clearly feel the advantage that 4K @ 120Hz (can be "overclocked" up to 165Hz) on LG OLED G5 brings after stressful working hours, but for current generation consoles, taking advantage of 120Hz of TV is relatively easy, but meeting native 4K resolution is still difficult, but upscaling from 1440p to 4K is also a very good experience. The LG OLED G5 also supports ClearMR 10000 and the ability to automatically detect when you plug in the console to optimize the best configuration is also an advantage of this TV. In fact, when trying to quickly switch from a static scene to a high-action scene (for example, switching cameras in a racing game or a chase movie), there is very little blurring, maintaining sharpness. The TV also supports NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync technology to help you plug in your PC and use NVIDIA and AMD GPUs.

My experience playing games on OLED TVs is never boring. Even though I don't have much time to play games, especially console games, I have to admit that it's much more immersive than when I play on a computer screen. Enough space, just me, sound bar and optimal sound and image is something that playing on a PC with Esport games will be difficult to feel, even AAA games on a computer screen.

LG is also careful and attentive to gamers with its own interface for gaming. If you find this interface familiar, it has appeared on LG's Ultra Gear gaming monitors for a long time.

The number of games that support 4K@120Hz on consoles like PS5 is not much, but I believe that LG OLED G5 will be a preparation for the future when new generation consoles are released, meeting the needs of playing 4K native games with high resolution (or at least PSSR technology like on the current PS5 Pro), this TV will not look old. In addition, G5 also integrates a cloud gaming service (GeForce NOW), expanding gaming capabilities not only limited to consoles.
Smart AI features

LG OLED G5 is equipped with many smart features powered by AI, making interaction simpler and personalizing the experience. The first is voice interaction via the new Magic Remote. You just need to say "Hi LG" to activate the virtual assistant, then give commands to search for content or control the TV. Practical experience shows that this feature works quickly: recognizing "Vietnamese - English" accents is relatively good (LG supports searching in Vietnamese), helping to look up movies in just a few seconds without having to type by hand. The remote also has its own AI key to quickly open the AI chat menu (AI Chatbot) or search for channels and applications via voice.

I tried asking AI to search for action genre movies, and the results returned were a number of movies from streaming service sources such as Apple TV+, Netflix and even popular video platforms like YouTube.

In addition, the TV also integrates Microsoft's Copilot. If you ask a question that the TV cannot answer with the available AI, it will suggest you use Copilot and you will chat with this AI assistant through the TV's built-in browser.

The TV also integrates AI Picture Wizard and AI Sound Wizard to automatically adjust images and sound according to user preferences. For example, when you first use it, the Wizard will ask you to choose a series of sample images and sounds (such as landscapes, female singers, natural noises). The system then creates your own personalized configuration from approximately 40 million audio and visual parameters.

As a result, every time you watch a movie or music, the TV will automatically apply the saved configuration for optimal color, brightness, sharpness, and sound quality. However, in the images that LG sent me, I cannot clearly feel the difference and when applied, it is a bit "thorny" and "sharp". As for the sound, I can feel that the sound field is wider but it doesn't feel as thick and solid anymore. The TV also integrates Dolby Atmos and AI self-balancing technology, helping to enhance surround effects without the need for a soundbar. However, these two features will be for those of you who are lost in the maze of different audio and video profiles and can't know which one to choose to optimize. In short, the AI features of the LG OLED G5 prove useful in automatically personalizing and enhancing the experience. From responsive voice commands to audio-visual wizards that save time on adjustments, modern users will feel this device meets the “AI TV” technology promised by LG.
Wall "sticker" design

The external frame of the LG OLED G5 is as remarkable as the technology inside, meaning the TV is made extremely thin, like a work of art hanging close to the wall. Actual installation proves it: the TV is only about 25mm thick and is clamped on the included ultra-thin mount, so there is almost no gap between the screen and the wall.

I don't know if the picture shows it completely, but if you have the opportunity to experience this TV in real life, you will see how thin and "sticky" it is to the wall. The TV mount that the company installed for me can be pulled out so you can use the connection ports, very sturdy and sturdy.

The ultra-thin screen border (due to the lack of speakers placed underneath) makes the whole look luxurious and invisible. When not viewed, it looks more like a large painting than an electronic device. The 4 corners are balanced and not skewed thanks to advanced pixel removal technology from LG. Thanks to this design, the room space is optimized: you do not need a bulky stand, saving space, and the TV blends into the interior decor. You can design a wall compartment to install the TV in, the TV will sink into the wall and at this point it will be even more beautiful and impressive.

LG also has a Gallery+ app with works of art that can quickly turn your TV into a painting or art display.
webOS interface and connectivity features

LG equipped the OLED G5 with the latest version of the webOS platform. As I said, my experience with this platform is a pleasant one. I like the interface and the "flying" mouse of this TV. I really like it and it is more intuitive than the interface of Android TV or Apple TV. It supports free updates for 5 years and 4 software versions.

The main toolbar has large, clear icons, runs smoothly and can be customized according to preferences. You can immediately access popular applications such as Netflix, YouTube, FPT Play, Galaxy Play,... or install more from the app store. Regarding device connectivity, the G5 supports both Apple AirPlay 2 and Google Cast/Screen Mirroring on Android. In addition, the G5 also integrates Bluetooth 5.3, supports pairing external speakers, wireless headphones... and is compatible with the Sound Sync feature, allowing audio synchronization with other LG speakers.

You can also turn the TV into a smart home control hub as it supports both the LG ThinQ and Google Home ecosystems.
Conclusion

My feeling is regret when I no longer have the opportunity to experience the images that this TV brings after a few days of using it. I find that the features that LG promotes are not an exaggeration, on the contrary, they make users more immersed in the content, in moments of relaxation, not caring about what happens outside anymore. High brightness, vivid colors, and perfect black reproduction make every movie, match, or game brilliant and impressive. If you are looking for a high-end TV for your living room or home audio-visual room, the LG OLED G5 is absolutely worth considering. With a price of about 117 million VND in the Vietnamese market, it is clear that LG OLED G5 is not a product for the masses, as most Vietnamese users are still watching IPTV television with low resolution. But those who are serious about a clean and beautiful experience, with the LG OLED G5, you will have in your hands a device that brings together many of the most advanced technologies available today. Overall, G5 is not just a TV to watch, but also a "work of technology" that brings entertainment experiences for the whole family.
