67 two-letter ".vn" domain names were auctioned, with a total value of more than 1.5 billion VND
(Dan Tri) - According to VNNIC, after two auctions of second-level domain names with 2 characters under ".vn", 67 domain names were successfully auctioned with a total value of more than 1,535 billion VND, 2.3 times higher than the total starting price.

In particular, the first phase had 37 domain names successfully auctioned with a total value about 2.7 times the starting price. The second phase recorded 30 successfully auctioned domain names, with a total value nearly 2 times the starting price.
According to Vietnam Internet Center (VNNIC), this result shows the market's interest in short, scarce domain names.
Some domain names with high auction winnings include "ok.vn" reaching 109 million VND, "hi.vn" reaching 60 million VND, "f5.vn" reaching 36 million VND and "3m.vn" reaching 22 million VND.
These are all short, easy to remember domain names that can be used for many businesses, services and online platforms.
According to VNNIC, the auction results show that second-level domain names with 2 characters below ".vn" are not only used as website access addresses but also have value in building and recognizing brands in the digital environment.
The domain name ".vn" can be used for websites, email systems and online communication channels of organizations, businesses or individuals.
According to VNNIC, the auctions also mark the actual implementation of the regulations of the 2023 Telecommunications Law on management, allocation and exploitation of Vietnam's Internet resources.
The law stipulates that the Vietnamese national domain name ".vn" belongs to the group of Internet resources that are allowed to transfer usage rights, except for some cases such as protected domain names, shared domain names, domain names that are being handled for violations, are in the process of resolving disputes, complaints or are temporarily suspended from use.
In addition, organizations and individuals can also donate, contribute capital or inherit the right to use the ".vn" domain name in accordance with civil law and related legal regulations.
According to VNNIC, this is the legal basis for the right to use the ".vn" domain name to be exploited as a digital asset with economic and brand value.
Regarding management, VNNIC said the auction is a public and transparent allocation mechanism for a limited number of 2-letter domain names.
"When the value of domain names is established through public competition, the market will gradually form a culture of investing, using and exploiting domain names at the right value. This is also an important premise for the next auctions," VNNIC commented.
However, according to this unit, the winning bid is only the beginning. The value of the domain name will be promoted when it is put into operation to serve business activities, provide services or build a brand.
In the coming time, VNNIC will continue to organize auctions of the right to use the national domain name ".vn" as planned, ensuring the principles of openness, transparency, equality and compliance with the law.
