Amazon is licensed to establish a private telecommunications network in Vietnam

(Dan Tri) - Amazon's private telecommunications network is established on the basis of connecting satellite systems with ground infrastructure in Vietnam, serving testing and checking the quality of terminal equipment.

On the morning of September 23, in New York (USA), under the witness of General Secretary and President To Lam, Minister of Science and Technology Vu Hai Quan awarded a license to establish a private telecommunications network for Amazon Kuiper Vietnam.

According to the license, Amazon Kuiper Vietnam is allowed to establish a private telecommunications network using satellite transmission to test and check the operation of customer terminal devices, thereby evaluating the quality of products manufactured in Vietnam.

The network has a nationwide scope of operation and must fully comply with the provisions of law on telecommunications, radio frequencies, technical standards, service quality, information safety and security.

Amazon Kuiper Vietnam was established in 2024, is Amazon's legal entity in Vietnam in the field of satellite connection. Amazon Leo, formerly known as Project Kuiper, is a broadband network using more than 3,000 low-orbit satellites, aiming to provide high-speed, low-latency connectivity to areas that are difficult to reach with traditional infrastructure.

The licensing creates a basis for Amazon to test production equipment in Vietnam, contributing to promoting the high-tech industry, expanding the supply chain and strengthening cooperation in developing new generation connection infrastructure.
