Amazon launches a new Alexa Tablet range that supports Google Play Store, priced from 229 USD

Amazon has just officially introduced a completely new line of tablets called Amazon Alexa Tablets. The big change in this generation is running Android with the built-in Google Play Store app store and Alexa+ smart assistant right from the system, instead of being limited to a separate service ecosystem as before. The new product range has a monolithic aluminum design and includes three size versions.

The most advanced version is the Amazon Alexa Tablet 12 Pro with a thickness of 6.5 mm. The device has a 12-inch screen, 3:2 display ratio, 280 PPI pixel density and 120Hz refresh rate. In addition to the standard screen, Amazon offers an anti-glare Nanomatte option developed with Corning that uses sub-pixel optical etching technology.

In terms of configuration, the device uses a 4nm 8-core processor, up to 16GB of RAM, 128GB of internal memory, a 4-speaker system that supports Dolby Atmos, Wi-Fi 6E connection and a battery life of 16 hours of video playback. Users can combine the USI 2.0 Pro Pen stylus that recognizes 4,096 pressure levels with the Pro Keyboard connected by magnet.

In the more popular segment, the Amazon Alexa Tablet 11 is equipped with an 11-inch screen with 2.5K resolution, 276 PPI pixel density, 16:10 ratio and 90Hz refresh rate. The device runs on an 8-core chip with 8GB of RAM, dual Dolby Atmos speaker system and 15-hour battery life for video playback.

The most compact model is the Amazon Alexa Tablet 8 with an 8.7-inch screen, weight of 329g and thickness of 7.95 mm. The internal configuration includes an 8-core processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB internal memory, Wi-Fi 6 connection standard and a battery of 14 hours of video playback.

Amazon also upgraded its Kids Tablets line with two sizes, 8.7-inch and 11-inch, with shockproof cases, one-year Amazon Kids+ service and content creation tools.

Regarding software, Alexa+'s On-Screen Intelligence feature allows the assistant to read content displayed on the screen to assist with searching or adding schedules when the user grants permission. Kindle mode on the device will automatically turn off notifications, reduce blue light and extend reading time to 20 hours. Amazon Alexa Tablet 8 starts at $229.99 for 4GB RAM and 64GB internal memory. Amazon Alexa Tablet 11 version is priced from 329.99 USD with configuration of 8GB RAM and 64GB memory. The Amazon Alexa Tablet 12 Pro starts at $499.99 for the standard version and $549.99 for the Nanomatte screen version with 8GB RAM and 128GB memory configuration.
