Apple expands supply chain human resource training in Vietnam

(Dan Tri) - The new Apple Education Center in Hanoi will bring courses and training programs to employees in Apple's supply chain in Vietnam.

Apple is expanding its training and skills development programs for supplier employees in Vietnam, through the launch of a new education center in Hanoi and an expanded suite of development courses at supplier facilities.

The Apple Education Center, deployed in Vietnam through cooperation with Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), is expected to begin organizing courses from this fall.

The center will organize online and practical courses for suppliers' employees. Training content includes knowledge about smart manufacturing, robotics and automation technology.

We are excited to expand our educational training courses in Vietnam, giving thousands of workers the opportunity to gain critical skills training and explore new opportunities for career growth,” said Sarah Chandler, Apple's Vice President of Supply Chain and Environmental Innovation.

Training courses in Vietnam are part of the $50 million Supplier Employee Development Fund deployed globally by Apple.

According to Apple, since the fund was established in 2022, more than 9 million training sessions have been held. Apple's Swift programming program has also had more than 108,000 supplier employees participate since 2017.

In addition to technical training, programs in the fund also include content on rights in the workplace, to provide workers with knowledge about their rights and how to respond when these rights are not guaranteed.

Apple and its suppliers also implemented nearly 20 educational programs for employees in Vietnam, with content related to employee rights, technology, expertise, health and adaptability.

This year, Apple said it will continue to expand its Career Education program for People with Disabilities in Vietnam. According to the business, since the program was launched in 2022, more than 49,000 employees at more than 70 supplier facilities have participated.

The program focuses on vocational skills training for people with disabilities in the production environment, and guides suppliers to build a working environment more suitable for this group of workers.
