Apple released iOS 27.0.1 patching Face ID errors for iPhone 18 Pro

According to Apple's note dated September 28, the update fixes three major bugs. The most serious issue is that the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max "may reboot suddenly when Face ID authentication fails".

Previously, according to technology site MacRumors, some iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max users complained on social networks that the authentication process may not work for tasks such as unlocking locked applications, or iPhone freezing, then restarting. Others get an "unavailable" error message when trying to set up Face ID or "requires attention for Face ID" when installing software that needs to access the feature.

The update also fixes problems related to the iPhone 18 Pro's camera when shooting in 2x zoom mode, f/1.48 aperture in low light or complex lighting conditions, mainly color errors. The remaining error involves opening the Notification Center and Control Center simultaneously, which can cause the touch screen to become unresponsive.

iOS 27.0.1 is the first update to iOS 27 in just two weeks. According to Apple, the iOS 27 operating system helps improve many operations and experiences. For example, apps launch 30% faster, new photos in the library load 70% faster, AirDrop transfer speeds are also 80% faster, and are more stable with large files or when sending multiple photos and 4K videos.

iOS 27 also features a deeply integrated AI Siri, powered by Google's Gemini model, that has significantly better conversational capabilities, connects to the Internet when needed, and helps users brainstorm ideas, refine plans, answer complex questions, and even create detailed schedules. Apple also introduced specialized Siri software, bringing its AI assistant closer to competing chatbot platforms, but currently only supports the official language of English. In addition, the new operating system also updates the upgraded Camera and Photo applications with AI, and the Liquid Glass interface is refreshed.

Users access Settings > General settings > Software updates and update iOS 27.0.1. iOS 27 supports iPhone 11, second generation iPhone SE or newer as well as iPhone Air and iPhone Duo lines. The all-new Siri AI and upgraded Apple Intelligence features are only available on iPhone 15 Pro and above.
