Apple increases iCloud+ price in Vietnam
Vietnam is in the group of 8 markets increasing the price of Apple's online storage service along with Nigeria, Türkiye, Japan, Egypt, New Zealand, Philippines and Indonesia from July 18. This is the first time Apple has changed the price of iCloud+ in Vietnam since raising the price of the 200 GB and 2 TB packages in June 2023.
iCloud+ prices in the above countries increased by 11-55%, in Vietnam it was about 20-31%. The package with the lowest capacity of 50 GB has the highest increase rate of 31.68%, from 19,000 to 25,000 VND. The three high capacity packages all increased by about 20% with 6 TB reaching 899,000 VND and 12 TB reaching 1,799,000 VND.
According to some international technology sites, this adjustment may be due to exchange rate fluctuations. For example, the Japanese yen has weakened by 10% against the USD, and the Turkish lira has also depreciated sharply recently.
On the same day, Apple also increased the price of Apple Music music service in several countries, including the US but not Vietnam. Individual plan in the US increased from 10.99 to 11.99 USD per month. Responding to Forbes, Apple said this increase comes from music copyright costs, not related to exchange rates.
In Vietnam, Music service prices still range from 65,000 VND/month for individuals, 99,000 VND/month for family groups or 35,000 VND for students. In addition, Apple One service (including Music, iCloud+, TV+, Arcade) remains at 239,000 VND/month for individuals and 279,000 VND/month for families.
Also related to the changing yen exchange rate with USD, Japan is the first market to adjust the new iPhone list price. According to iPhoneros, iPhone 16, 17e, 17, Air, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max models all increased in price by 8-11% on Apple's online store in Japan.
In the middle of last month, Apple announced a price increase for a series of iPad products and Mac computers globally from 15 to 25%. The reason is the memory chip crisis and Apple's inability to manage supply to maintain old prices. "Apple" is the computer company with the latest move in the market when a series of other big companies such as Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo have adjusted the prices of computers and laptops since the end of last year.
