[Back to school] MFinder: Tool that adds power to macOS's Finder from Maclife brothers

If you use Finder on macOS and are still not satisfied with the available features, or you are used to using Windows and switch to macOS and still want the same features as Windows, in this topic I introduce to you the MFinder app, a tool that adds many features to Finder on macOS from the Maclife admin group. I will only talk about the features that I think are outstanding and that are not available on the default Finder of macOS. Well, when using MFinder, it will ask for many permissions. If you feel stressed, you can ignore it.

Lock folder

You can lock any folder you want in Finder. Instead of downloading third-party apps, you can always use this built-in tool of MFinder. Lock any folder you feel is sensitive, then you can use Touch ID or Apple Watch to unlock it.

Compress & decompress files, 7-zip, RAR, TAR....

Previously, to compress and decompress these files, you often used other applications to do it, now MFinder also has it. By default, macOS only supports decompressing and compressing zip files, while MFinder will support compressing and decompressing 7-zip files, decompressing RAR, TAR, GZ, XZ files....

If you use Windows and are familiar with this feature, macOS now also has MFinder. This feature will need screen recording and accessibility permissions. I think it will simply take a screenshot of the application currently on the desktop. If you do not use Stage Manager, it will capture the window, but if you use Stage Manager, it will capture the application placed on the side of the computer screen.

Search with AI

MFinder integrates Apple Intelligence and you can search using natural language, according to the developer's description. Specifically, you can search for a certain folder or file without having to remember the exact name. This feature runs on-device, no data is sent outside. Currently, I see this feature working on Downloads, Desktop, Documents folders and integrating OCR to read text in images and documents. You can also search using keyboard shortcuts, the default will be Option + Space

Copy/Cut & Paste

This feature is a feature that helps you use "Cut" similar to Windows. On macOS, if you want to move (cut) files or folders from one place to another, you will have to use the key combination Option + Cmd + V, unlike on Windows where Ctrl + V is used for both Copy and Cut. Now with MFinder, you can use the shortcut Cmd + Twitter to Cut and Cmd + V to paste, much simpler.

PDF Tools

This is also a feature that macOS Finder will not have by default. You can merge or split multiple PDF files by bookmarks, rotate or delete a certain page, convert photos into PDF files, lock PDF files with Touch ID,... In addition, there are some advanced features such as turning PDF files into documents that can be viewed and searched via OCR, etc. If you have anything else to use, please share below.
