National Innovation Day 2026 begins
The 2026 National Innovation Festival has the theme "Innovation - The driving force for development of the entire society". The response ceremony will be held at the National Convention Center, Hanoi, with about 1,000 delegates expected to attend, including leaders of the Government, Ministry of Science and Technology, ministries, localities, businesses, research institutes, universities, innovation support organizations, scientists and inventors.
The event is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 2026 National Innovation Festival hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology. The program aims to spread the spirit of innovation throughout society, raising awareness about the role of innovation in socio-economic development and quality of life.
Key activities include a welcome ceremony, forums on science, technology, innovation and digital transformation, national technology and innovation exhibitions, and connection activities, application promotion, technology transfer and innovation.
It is expected that the ceremony will have the participation and sharing of many guests from the innovation ecosystem in Vietnam. Inspirational sharing will come from guests such as Samsung representatives in Vietnam, a number of Vietnamese experts and intellectuals at home and abroad, prominent startups, and representatives of the Fund.
One of the main contents of the ceremony is to announce the results of Vietnam's innovation in 2026. The Ministry of Science and Technology will announce the Local Innovation Index (PII) 2026, award the 2026 Science Innovation Contest and the Science, Technology, Innovation, and Digital Transformation Book award.
The program will also witness the launching ceremony of the 2026 National Innovation Festival, with the direction of Government leaders.
According to the organizers, this is also an opportunity to promote connection of components in the innovation ecosystem, from management agencies, businesses, research institutes, universities to experts, financial institutions and investment funds; At the same time, strengthen cooperation, share resources and form new initiatives and projects.
From 2024, October 1 every year will be chosen by the Government as the National Innovation Festival. The Ministry of Science and Technology is assigned to preside over and coordinate with local ministries and branches to promulgate plans to organize activities. The festival also has an exhibition space of more than 100 booths, with the participation of large corporations and businesses such as Samsung, Meta along with financial institutions, banks and credit institutions.
According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, the 2026 National Innovation Festival is not only a socio-political event to spread the spirit of innovation throughout society but also an affirmation of the Government and Prime Minister in implementing Resolution No. 57 on breakthrough development of science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation and Resolution No. 19 on Vietnam's new development model. 2026 is the year of action, shifting strongly from "institution building" to "implementation", from guidelines and policies to specific actions and results; promote the creativity of people, businesses, scientists and the whole society, making innovation a practical driving force of the new growth model.
