John Ternus' first letter to Apple employees as new CEO

Today is a major turning point for Apple when John Ternus officially takes over the CEO position from Tim Cook, and Tim Cook moves to the role of Executive Chairman. On the first working day in his new position, John Ternus sent a short letter to all company employees. Personally, I find it very interesting that Apple chose someone with an in-depth background in hardware engineering to steer the ship, completely different from Tim Cook's previous background that focuses on operations and supply chains. Below is the full content of the letter that John Ternus just sent this morning: ‐--------------------- "To the entire team, Today, on my first day working as CEO, I want to send a few short words to thank you all for the warm wishes. I also want to express my deepest gratitude to Tim for sharing so much knowledge and experience throughout this transition, and most importantly, for his tremendous contributions to Apple over the years. We are fortunate to have a CEO who always leads based on core values, kindness and humanity. We are all better because of him, and I am grateful that he will continue with us as Executive Chairman.

Joining Apple in 2001 and holding the position of Senior Vice President in charge of Hardware Engineering, John Ternus has a very strong product background. Along with this transition, Apple's leadership is also strongly restructuring: Johny Srouji takes on the position of Hardware Director to take over the technical department, former Vice President Laura Legros returns and the product design team is also reorganized. These changes will probably have a noticeable impact over the next few years. I hope a captain with a deep understanding of hardware will bring more substantive innovation to Apple devices.
