COMPUTEX 2026: Acer Swift Air 14, Nitro 16 and Predator Helios 18 AI in hand

Yesterday I visited Acer's booth and saw 3 laptops that caught my attention, with the Swift Air 14 being a thin, light laptop model with the Wildcat Lake platform for students, Nitro 16 with AMD Ryzen X3D configuration and Predator Helios 18 AI for those who want the best Acer laptop. I will share with you in more detail below.

For me, the laptop that impresses me the most is the Swift Air 14. I don't know how much Acer will sell this device in Vietnam, but it has very quality equipment compared to what I imagined as a laptop in the student segment.

Let's talk about the Swift Air 14 first

This laptop is really thin and light, and has many colors for you to choose from. If you carry this laptop to school all day you will not feel it is heavy because it weighs only 1.25kg and the thickness of the device is only 12.9mm.

The Acer Swift Air 14 has a diamond cut border around the chassis and this is a detail I appreciate in the laptop price range under 700 USD. It's clear that the MacBook Neo has made companies like Acer have to rethink how to make popular laptops to be able to provide a good user experience.

Besides, Swift Air 14 is built with full CNC aluminum and anodized surface to look like a laptop in the high-end segment. And speaking of high-end factors, what the MacBook Neo cannot have is 2 USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports. I don't think Acer will equip Swift Air 14 with Thunderbolt 4.

Regarding the screen, Acer Swift Air 14 is equipped with a 14-inch IPS LCD panel, FHD + resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, 16:10 ratio, 350 nits peak brightness and 100% sRGB coverage. For me, having 120Hz is the key factor to make Swift Air 14 more attractive. The screen border of the Acer Swift Air 14 is also thinner and easier to see than the MacBook Neo.

Going into details about the configuration, Acer gives users many options from Intel Core 3 to the highest Intel Core 7 350, 8GB RAM options (aimed at students) and 16GB RAM for more multitasking needs, SSD up to 512GB. For this segment and for thin and light computers, upgrading RAM is impossible.

The battery capacity on the Swift Air 14 is 70Whr and Acer confidently says that this laptop can surf the web for up to 16 hours and watch videos for up to 19 hours (video streaming). This number will actually vary because Acer's testing conditions are ideal conditions as well as special settings that are often not the same as the user's usage settings.

Well, the Acer Swift Air 14 has a keyboard backlight, it will always be there by default, as well as face unlock via Windows Hello. In general, laptops in the segment called "MacBook Neo killer" all have very attractive equipment, as well as being somewhat superior to Apple laptops, it's all just a matter of price.

Acer Nitro 16

This laptop is available in Vietnam with the name Nitro ProPanel, this laptop was just introduced by Acer just 5-6 days ago and if you are a red team fan, you will like Acer Nitro 16.

In terms of configuration, it is very powerful in a quite compact body of a 16-inch gaming laptop. Equipped with a 16-core AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D CPU with an extremely abundant 64MB L3 cache, AMD's 3D V-Cache CPU line is so famous for its gaming capabilities that I don't need to introduce it again. Besides, with GPU options, you can choose the highest version which will have RTX 5070 Ti, RAM options up to 32GB DDR5 5600 as well as 2 M.2 slots for users to upgrade.

Acer Nitro 16 only has 1 screen option: 16-inch QHD+ 240Hz 3ms, low latency IPS LCD panel that will help optimize Esport games better.

I also want to mention a little about the Nitro 16's cooling system, including 2 cooling fans and a copper pipe system underneath the chassis, combined with liquid metal paste and many air intake/exhaust slots to help keep the D side of the machine quite airy, ensuring effective heat dissipation. I have tested many Nitro lines and am extremely impressed with the machine's ability to respond almost instantly to fan speed as well as its ability to quickly cool down. I believe that with this new Nitro 16 line, I will have those advantages.

Talking about the design on the Acer Nitro 16, I see that Acer is taking more and more care with it. Through my quick observation and experience at their booth, the Nitro 16 has a solid chassis. Even though it is plastic, the C and D sides are sturdy, do not flex when pressing hard on the chassis and that helps you feel secure when typing on the keyboard. Next, side A is still metal and has a simpler design, with only the Nitro logo.

The connection port on this laptop will mainly be located on the back with USB-C (USB4), USB-A, HDMI, 3.5mm jack and supports Wi-Fi 6E as well as Bluetooth 5.3.

Acer Predator Helios 18 AI

Acer's most powerful laptop, all the best we will see on this laptop. The first is an 18-inch 4K mini LED 1000 nits display with dual mode (meaning you can display 4K 120Hz or FHD 240Hz), has Calman Verified Display certification and 100% DCI-P3 coverage, has NVIDIA Advanced Optimus and G-Sync.

In addition to the left front of the laptop, the right palm rest area and the cover above the rear of the laptop are all equipped with a dynamic RGB lighting system, allowing players to customize colors and lighting effects through the integrated Predator Sense application.

Inside the laptop is a new cooling system including two 6th generation Predator AeroBlade 3D fans, vector heat pipes and liquid metal thermal paste. In particular, the 6th generation Predator AeroBlade 3D dual fan is equipped with 100 metal blades with a thickness of only 0.05mm, helping to increase air flow by about 20% compared to the 5th generation.

The laptop's keyboard is equipped with a standard full-size keyboard layout. The keyboard uses Acer's latest Predator MagKey mechanical keyboard shaft design, giving a very crisp, elegant typing feel, providing a comfortable and solid typing experience. The touchpad below has standard size, supports gesture manipulation and multi-touch function.
