The first 6G call could be made in 2029
(Dan Tri) - Viettel High Tech has become the first global partner to sign the 6G platform Early Access Program with Qualcomm Technologies.
This opens a new phase of cooperation in research and development of the next generation of mobile network technology. The two sides aim to make the first pre-commercial 6G call in early 2029 on systems and equipment researched, developed and manufactured by Viettel itself.

According to the cooperation content, Viettel High Tech will coordinate with Qualcomm to research, design, develop and produce 6th generation (6G) transceiver stations. In particular, Viettel is responsible for research, design, development, integration, production, testing and product quality assessment. Qualcomm provides the chipset technology platform.
The two sides coordinated to evaluate the interoperability between Qualcomm's 6G technology platform and products researched and developed by Viettel High Tech; At the same time, evaluate the quality and optimize product performance under actual exploitation conditions and scenarios.
After cooperating with Viettel High Tech since 2022, Mr. Durga Malladi - Executive Vice President and General Director of Qualcomm Technologies, said that Qualcomm is especially impressed with the results Viettel has achieved, especially the ability to independently research, develop and commercialize wireless solutions, and the speed of deploying networks on a large scale.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Tao Duc Thang, Chairman and General Director of Viettel Group, emphasized that Viettel is steadfast in its goal of mastering technology. Accordingly, Viettel's first pre-commercial 6G call must be made on systems and equipment researched, developed and manufactured by Viettel itself.
This goal continues to affirm Viettel's thorough orientation of gradually mastering the entire technology chain, from research, design, development to production, commercialization and deployment on the actual network.
In addition to research cooperation, the two sides agreed to continue coordinating to expand international markets for 5G devices developed by Viettel High Tech in Southeast Asia, South Asia, Africa and Latin America.
Qualcomm will continue to promote its role in connecting with global carriers and partners. Meanwhile, Viettel High Tech provides solutions and practical implementation experience, creating conditions for "Make in Vietnam" telecommunications products to reach deeper into the international market.

Moving to 6G, the scope of cooperation between Viettel and Qualcomm is expected to not be limited to radio systems. 6G technology is oriented to develop according to the original AI network model, in which artificial intelligence is integrated right from the platform architecture.
Therefore, the two sides have the opportunity to expand cooperation into the fields of high-performance computing, data center servers, sensor technology, autonomous AI devices and new generation radio systems.
For Viettel, participating in 6G research from the early stages helps the business accompany the global technology development process, while proactively researching, developing and shaping next generation telecommunications network products.
This orientation demonstrates Viettel's determination to gradually master the latest telecommunications technologies, in accordance with the national science, technology, innovation and digital transformation development strategy, including 6G technology.
Proactively investing in research early not only contributes to improving the competitiveness of businesses, but also creates a foundation for Vietnam to participate more deeply in the global technology value chain.
