OPPO Find X9 Ultra review: Spending 50 million, what do you get in return from OPPO's best flagship?

OPPO Find X9 Ultra is truly a phone created for those who are true fans of OPPO and absolutely do not care about financial issues. If you want to look for a more practical device, a little closer to your daily needs, then the OPPO Find X9 Pro will be a much more reasonable choice.

In this article, I want to stand from the perspective of a longtime technology enthusiast and have a special love for OPPO, to help you answer the question: when you spend up to 50 million VND for this phone, what different value will you receive compared to the Pro version as well as other flagship models currently on the market.

The Find X9 Ultra version I am using in this review is the domestic version. This is also a way to approach OPPO's most high-end flacgship at a price about ten million VND cheaper than genuine products. When holding both versions on the street, their appearance is identical, without any differences, and outsiders looking in will definitely think you have a lot of money when holding a 50 million device in your hand.

The design on Find X9 Ultra is very beautiful and has highlights

Regarding the design, if you are a big fan of OPPO, the brown faux leather back version is definitely the perfect choice. This color tone fully represents the spirit of deep cooperation between OPPO and Hasselblad, replicating the legendary design of the Hasselblad X2D II 100C camera that every photographer knows. If you like a more youthful and dynamic look, you can aim for the orange version.

The device has a sturdy metal frame, finished in the form of applying the screen and back cover to the component frame, not a monolithic unibody design. The level of perfection and seamlessness of the Find

The actual grip of the device is quite compact and heavy in the hand. The weight and width of the Ultra version are almost the same as the Find X9 Pro, with only a negligible difference of about 1-2 grams and 0.x mm. The slight difference I noticed is that the screen border of the Ultra version feels a little thicker than the Pro version.

The device's rear camera cluster is extremely convex and has an orange circle surrounding it as a highly recognizable highlight. Because of this large underarm camera cluster, when using it every day, I often have to place my index finger right under the notch of the camera cluster to reduce the pressure on my little finger.

The screen is beautiful, the edges are a bit thick compared to Find X9 Pro

The display quality of Find X9 Ultra does not have any trade-offs compared to Find X9 Pro, everything for me is extremely excellent. The device is equipped with a slightly larger screen with a size of 6.82-inches compared to 6.78-inches on the Pro version, with support for Dolby Vision so you can watch movies with the most cinematic visual experience.

The brightness of this screen must be called extremely high, up to 3600 nits, with a refresh rate of 144Hz. Although this 144Hz number is usually only clearly visible when you play games or use very specific tasks, for normal daily touching needs, the current 120Hz level is more than smooth enough for you to experience.

However, there is a small note I want to share with you guys: when using the screen of this year's Find X9 Series to watch Netflix, the displayed image will be a bit dark. I don't think this problem lies in the screen hardware, it's mainly because the optimal software hasn't arrived yet. Perhaps OPPO needs to work with Netflix soon to optimize the phone's display capabilities when watching movies to reduce discomfort.
Camera

The camera system is the biggest, most majestic highlight and also the longest part on this device for me to share with you. Starting with the technical specifications for you to easily imagine, the device has a Hasselblad main camera with a huge resolution of 200MP, default focal length of 23mm, large 1/1.12-inch sensor and very large aperture f/1.5. Next is the 3X telephoto camera that also has a resolution of up to 200MP, 70mm focal length, 1/1.28-inch sensor and f/2.2 aperture.

The most special point that OPPO emphasizes is the 50MP optical 10X telephoto camera with a converted focal length of up to 230mm, using a 1/2.75-inch sensor and f/3.5 aperture. Finally, there is a 50MP super wide-angle camera, 14mm focal length, 1/1.95-inch sensor and f/2.0 aperture. This entire massive camera system is also strongly supported by a new generation color reproduction camera with 24K spectrum, HDR contrast range up to 15EV and accompanying flash system.

Do you see the difference between 6x and 10x telephoto cameras?

Although the Find X9 Ultra's main camera does not have a 1-inch sensor like the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, or the default 35mm focal length like the Vivo With a 23mm focal length, you can completely proactively crop the sensor to shoot at 28mm or 35mm focal lengths while still retaining excellent detail, great contrast and sharpness, I even find it much better than what the Find X9 Pro can do.

The inspiration for me to pick up the camera to take photos on this phone also comes from two extremely unique modes: XPan and Master Mode. XPan mode embodies Hasselblad's nostalgic school of photography, providing an extremely long aspect ratio of 2.76:1 with much better image quality and absolutely no distortion like the regular Panorama feature.

This mode is extremely ideal for you to compose horizontal or vertical landscapes when traveling, allowing us to flexibly change focal lengths from 1X, 2X, 3X to 6X combined with very technologically advanced color filters. As for Master Mode, OPPO introduces it as helping to retain Hasselblad's original color, less deep algorithm intervention in photos and allowing shooting at high resolution of 50MP or 200MP for easy post-production later. However, in my actual experience, the output image quality between this mode and the default mode is not too much different. When switching to a 3X telephoto camera with a focal length of 70mm, portrait photography will require you to take the trouble to step back from the subject a bit more than the traditional 50mm focal length, which unintentionally reduces the ability to control the surrounding space between you and the model. In return, you can freely adjust the simulated aperture to remove blurry backgrounds according to your taste.

What I highly appreciate is the way OPPO handles human skin color extremely naturally, without over-smoothing or magically brightening pale skin tones like other Chinese phone companies do. The skin color on the Find

The existence of the 10X optical telephoto camera on Find X9 Ultra is for me a major technical turning point. Although in daily life, we mainly only use the main camera, wide angle or at most 3X telephoto, but this 10X zoom lens will exert extremely terrible power when you travel, go to see idol concerts, or want to snipe birds, animals, and flowers at very far distances.

OPPO has completely overcome the physical limitations of previous periscope zoom lenses. They agreed to make the camera body up to 9.1mm thick to integrate a periscope lens structure with a 5-prism structure, completely realign the path of light through the lens layers and equip a new exclusive anti-vibration system, this explains why the cam cluster will have a slight rattling sound when you shake the camera.

With a 1/2.75-inch sensor and f/3.5 aperture, the optical quality at 10X zoom is completely superior to conventional hybrid or digital zoom technologies. This is clearly a groundbreaking feature and I think OPPO needs to continue to maintain and develop it into an exclusive signature highlight for future Ultra lines to build a separate loyal customer file.

However, to be fair, this camera system still has a few small minus points that make me not really satisfied. OPPO's placement of the Ultra Wide camera at the bottom of the massive lens cluster makes it very easy for you to pick up the camera to take a group selfie with the rear camera, accidentally getting part of your hand stuck in the corner of the frame. In addition, because the lenses are placed quite far apart, the displayed color and white balance when you look on the live view screen before taking the photo will be slightly out of phase, uniformity only reaching about 85-90%. Fortunately, after taking the photo, thanks to the intervention of the new generation color reproduction camera, the photo produced in different focal lengths does not have any significant color difference. Regarding video recording capabilities, Find X9 Ultra is superior to the Pro version when it supports maximum recording up to 8K 30fps instead of just stopping at 4K 120fps. As for the front camera, the device still has the skin smoothing feature turned on by default. If you don't like this type of beauty, you can proactively turn it off in the settings and you're done.
Battery & performance are a no-brainer

In terms of performance and performance, Find X9 Ultra is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, possessing an extremely powerful processor core system, completely superior to its predecessor. Comes with this huge chip is 512GB of spacious storage memory and 12GB of RAM. With this configuration, I assure you that it is more than capable of smoothly handling all tasks from heavy to light without experiencing any lag or delay at all.

The large capacity 7,450 mAh battery using Silicon-Carbon technology provides actual usage time similar to the Find X9 Pro model. Even during my continuous travel in Taiwan, constantly turning on the high-intensity 5G network on the street to look up Google Maps and do all sorts of things, the device still had the strength to last a long day of work in an extremely comfortable and secure way.
Smooth experience with ColorOS 16

This year's software experience on the ColorOS 16 platform must be extremely smooth and full of cool features for you to tinker with. Even though the device I am holding is the domestic version, the power of the OPPO AI toolkit is still fully and deliciously displayed. The feature that impresses me the most is the smart menu translation: when you travel abroad, just raise the cam to scan a menu in Chinese, AI will immediately translate it into Vietnamese, automatically redraw intuitive dish graphics, list detailed ingredients and even give warnings about ingredients that are likely to cause allergies for you. Besides, the feature of scanning and recording invoices and automatically saving them to the MySpace space helps to synthesize expenses extremely intelligently, an extremely practical feature for those who often have to go shopping or go on long business trips and need to make payment forms.
Conclusion

To summarize, the OPPO Find

The price reaching the threshold of 50 million VND will certainly be a huge barrier to reaching the majority of basic users, even making long-time fans of the company hesitate. Obviously, the market coverage as well as the profit margin of names like OPPO, Xiaomi or Vivo cannot be as large and well optimized as Apple or Samsung to be able to confidently offer a more comfortable price for users. However, if you look a little wider in the context of the global scarcity of hardware components such as memory chips, RAM and SSD hard drives that are forecast to last until 2027 or 2028, all flagship devices in the near future will have to increase in price according to the general trend. At that time, the current price of 50 million VND for Find X9 Ultra will probably become a completely normal and understandable number for a super product with the Ultra suffix.
