The number 1556 is about to be auctioned, starting at one billion VND

The plan to auction the right to use telecommunications codes and numbers with the prefix 1556 was announced by the Department of Telecommunications in June, starting to receive applications from the end of August. The expected auction time is from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on September 11.

The number 1556 is located as "information answering service number - nationwide service number". The starting price is one billion VND, the step price is 20 million VND and the deposit is 200 million VND. People who want to participate can submit registration documents from now until 5:00 p.m. on September 8 on the online auction system of Vietnam Auction Partnership Company VPA.

Previously, a number of numbers belonging to the 15xx service group were auctioned. In which the number 1515 was successfully sold for one billion VND in the session on April 16. In the January auction, the two numbers 1555 and 1500 were priced at 1.02 billion VND, the numbers 1299 and 1558 both reached one billion VND.

A service number is a code, a short number, usually consisting of four digits, used by businesses, organizations or agencies to provide services over the phone. These numbers mainly serve customer care hotline, technical support, consulting, scheduling, surveys or automatic information provision. Compared to regular landline or mobile phone numbers, the first four numbers are considered easier to remember, convenient to contact and help increase brand recognition.

Previously, codes and numbers were allocated in the form of direct grants. The auction of usage rights is a major policy in state management of telecommunications, aiming to innovate the method of allocating resources according to market mechanisms, thereby increasing budget revenue and being more transparent in allocation.
