The number once associated with SFone was sold for more than 252 billion VND

According to Vietnam Partnership Auction Company (VPA), the right to use mobile network code 95 was auctioned on the morning of July 10. The successful buyer paid 252.5 billion VND, while the starting price was 2.5 billion VND.
Mobile network code is the code used to identify the network operator in the telecommunications system. In Vietnam, code 95 corresponds to the prefix 095, which was used by SFone.
SFone is one of the few network operators in Vietnam using CDMA technology. After this network stopped operating in 2016, the number 095 almost no longer appeared in the telecommunications market.

According to the previous announcement of the Department of Telecommunications - Ministry of Science and Technology, the winning bidder must commit to putting the network code into operation and use for a maximum of 6 months from the date of allocation.
The management agency said that the auction of the right to use network code 95 is of great significance, aiming to effectively exploit the telecommunications number warehouse, meet the needs of businesses and people, and increase revenue for the state budget.
Previously, in January, the Department of Telecommunications successfully auctioned two codes, numbers 1555 and 1500, for 1.02 billion VND, while numbers 1299 and 1558 both reached one billion VND. By April, four codes, telecommunications numbers 1515, 5151, 6789 and 9999, continued to be auctioned, of which some codes had winning prices hundreds of millions of dong higher than the starting price.
In addition to mobile network code 95, the Department also organized an auction for the rights to use two short message service (SMS) numbers 5599 and 9559 on July 9, but was unsuccessful.
