Weekly point: Millions of subscribers are locked and at risk of losing Zalo because they have not been authenticated
(Dan Tri) - Outstanding technology information last week included nearly 18 million one-way locked subscribers, illegal Starlink Internet appearing, and iPhone 18 Pro price may increase.
Nearly 18 million subscribers are one-way locked
According to information from the Department of Telecommunications, to date there have been more than 93 million phone numbers whose owners have been confirmed through the VNeID application. However, there are still about 18 million subscribers who have not confirmed their usage status.

All three major carriers, Viettel, VinaPhone and MobiFone, apply the same strict handling roadmap for subscribers whose information has not been authenticated. After being locked one-way on June 15, customers will have an additional 60 days to perform verification procedures according to regulations.
If this time limit has passed and the information has not been updated, the subscriber will be blocked from both-way service. After 5 days from the two-way lock, if the user still does not authenticate, the network operators will officially terminate the service contract and recall the subscription number to the digital warehouse in accordance with the law.
Regulations on Internet-connected cameras
On May 12, Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang signed Circular No. 48/2026/TT-BCA, accompanied by National Technical Regulation QCVN 11:2026/BCA, which is a national technical regulation on basic network security requirements for surveillance camera equipment using Internet protocol (IP cameras).

The new standard requires each IP camera to use a separate and unique password, or requires users to set a new password immediately after installation and first use. Camera manufacturers must also apply authentication mechanisms that are resistant to automatic password scanning tools.
From July 1, camera companies must also clearly announce the warranty support period and software updates for each product. When a software patch is available, the camera must automatically notify users to install it in the safest and most convenient way, avoiding the risk that hackers can exploit security holes to attack and steal images from the camera.
Unauthorized Internet Starlink appears
Recorded on social networking platforms such as Facebook, many groups and fanpages providing Starlink Internet services attract thousands of members to participate with exciting posts about buying, selling and exchanging equipment every day.

Taking advantage of the fact that the official service has not yet announced the commercialization time and has not shown the official coverage area in Vietnam, "piracy agencies" have preyed on the impatience of a part of customers in remote areas, islands or cruise ship owners.
A common trick advertised by these accounts is to smuggle devices from abroad through unofficial channels, then guide buyers to circumvent the law using the international roaming feature (Global Roaming). This way, even in Vietnam, the device can still connect to the satellite constellation in orbit to access the Internet.

Risk of losing Zalo account because the subscription has not been authenticated
Faced with the fact that many phone numbers are at risk of being revoked, Zalo and Viettel are joining hands towards the goal of improving safety for users of telecommunications services and digital platforms according to the Telecommunications Law. Specifically, the network operator will continuously update and provide Zalo with a list of revoked mobile subscribers.

On that basis, Zalo conducts a review of all accounts registered with these phone numbers, and proactively sends notifications to support users in converting phone numbers promptly and in accordance with the law.
Zalo's security system will send notifications at the top of the message page for cases on the affected list. To maintain a smooth connection, users need to pay attention to monitoring notifications and proactively perform authentication according to instructions.
