#DIY: Mounting a giant 115" TV on the wall is so easy

I installed a giant 115" TV weighing 98kg by myself in about 2 hours. After installing it, it was so good... If only I had a living room with a TV chair that was only 3.5m away from the wall, I would have changed the TV. Normally, when the TV is assembled with a stand and placed on a shelf, it will protrude about 30cm. If mounted with a normal TV stand, it will also protrude about 15cm. The mounting kit that comes with this TV of the TCL QD Mini-LED TV, when mounted, the TV is almost close to the wall, with only a gap of about 6cm left. So after mounting it on the wall, you will benefit about 24cm in terms of viewing distance and the TV will also be much neater and more beautiful than mounting it on the wall where it sticks out a lot or placing it on a shelf where it sticks out a lot. However, you will not be able to use the light behind the TV.

Calculate the appropriate height to hang the TV

When sitting and watching TV on the sofa with the sofa open to support my legs, sitting slightly tilted, not lying down, I measured the height of my eyes to be about 95cm. When looking up at a wall 3.5 meters away, you can see that at a height of 1.3 meters, the head will be in the most comfortable position when the eyes look at it, and the eyes will not glance up or down. So my job is to calculate the position to drill holes in the wall to mount the bowl and hang the TV, then at a height of 130cm will be where the straight line dividing the TV in half will be in the middle.

Sitting on the sofa in this position, the head and eyes are most comfortable and natural. Look straight at the wall 3.5m away and determine the height your eyes can see. That will be the center line of the TV in height. With that position, when the TV is installed, it is still more than 50cm off the ground and cannot fit my 70cm high cabinet. So I will hang the Devialet Ione Soundbar on the wall under the TV as if it fits perfectly. Do not add any additional shelves or tables. If there are any, they are decorative items placed on the floor. However, leaving it blank is fine.

Proceed to mount the TV on the wall

After calculating, I went ahead and picked up the bowl. In the box, there are necessary switches and snails for catching. I drilled 8 holes in the wall with an 8mm concrete drill bit. While the company's manual states the drill bit is 8.1mm. So it has to be a little shallower to fit. In general, this is not difficult, I'm just wondering why the 8.1mm drill bit is not found in the world, so why does the book require that bit?

The width of the TV is 260cm.

Calculate the correct height to drill the wall and fix the bowl at.

After the TV is hung up, you can easily pull out the bottom for wiring.

After making a ruler and moving back and forth to the sofa's position to experience different viewing positions, the mods and I decided that the 3.5m position to watch this 115" TV is the best. We will get the feeling like watching in a small movie theater, not the feeling of watching TV like before. Even though I have watched a very large 88" TV at home, this 115" is completely different. It's really. giant TV.
