The battery capacity of the folding iPhone is 'less than 5,000 mAh'
According to Digital Chat Station, a technology channel that has shared a lot of accurate information about Apple products, the folding iPhone model, possibly called iPhone Ultra, will be equipped with two batteries of 1,921 and 2,962 mAh respectively.
Dual battery design, split into two halves of the screen is a popular solution on book-style folding phones to optimize weight and space. Of which, half contains a motherboard using a smaller 1,921 mAh battery, the other half will have a 2,962 mAh battery, total battery capacity reaching 4,883 mAh.
Sources from the supply chain predict that when officially launched, Apple will likely round up and advertise the battery at 4,900 or 5,000 mAh.
On Reddit and Twitter, many people expressed disappointment about the new specifications, when rumors earlier this year suggested that Apple was testing batteries with a 3D stacked structure with a capacity of 5,400 or 5,800 mAh for the iPhone Ultra.
Some predict that Apple changed the design in subsequent technical tests to prioritize thinness and lightness for the body. Although not as expected, this capacity still helps the iPhone Ultra compete with competitors in the market such as the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 which is said to have a 4,800 mAh battery, or the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold with 5,015 mAh.
According to Apple Insider, the folding iPhone's battery is also about 14% larger than the iPhone 18 Pro, but lower than the expected 5,567 mAh on the iPhone 18 Pro Max. Famous analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple is focusing on optimizing energy efficiency and using high-density battery cells to ensure all-day usage without increasing the thickness of the device.
The folding screen iPhone model is expected to be released in September, along with the iPhone 18 generation. According to forecasts from data company IDC, due to expensive component costs and complex hinge technology, the iPhone Ultra line will have an average selling price of 2,500 USD (61 million VND), the most advanced memory version could reach 3,000 USD.
