Standing from the 89th floor of Building 101 in Taipei, looking down, the Apple Store shaped like a MacBook is so impressive.

Photo taken with iPhone Air camera with 2X zoom level. Notice that the middle part of the photo is the roof of an Apple store, which looks exactly like a giant upside-down MacBook. From the 89th floor, the roof is still clearly visible, and comparison with surrounding buildings reveals its true size. This is a special Apple store: the roof is made of carbon fiber, the staff can communicate in more than 10 languages. Apple Xinyi A13 opened on June 15, 2019, only about a 15-minute walk from Apple Taipei 101 — the first Apple store in Taiwan —. While Taipei 101 is located in a shopping mall, Xinyi A13 is an independent building with a direct entrance from the street, bearing the characteristics of the world's most famous flagship Apple Stores such as the store on Michigan Avenue in Chicago. The architectural highlight of Xinyi A13 is the carbon fiber roof, curved evenly and stretching out like a giant laptop screen, placed on a floor-to-ceiling transparent greenhouse. Two large stone pillars on either side of the main entrance bring a sense of solemnity, while above is an open square with trees and stone benches - a rare public space in the busiest commercial area in Taipei. The combination of the sleek curved roof and the glass block below creates a "MacBook-like" visual effect when viewed from above, helping this building quickly become a familiar check-in point for techies and tourists. The store has more than 155 employees, more than half transferred from regional Apple stores, who can communicate in more than 10 languages in total — this shows the scale and importance that Apple attaches to the Taiwan market, as well as the level of colorization of Apple under Tim Cook. Do you think people who come here to buy things need staff who speak their native language? With its bold design, open community space, and convenient location right in the heart of Xinyi, the Apple Xinyi A13 is not just a retail store but also an architectural highlight of Taipei — where even if you don't plan to shop, admiring this "giant MacBook" from above makes for a memorable experience. Unfortunately, during my recent trip to Taipei, I did not plan to visit the Apple Store so I missed this store.
