FPT and Mila expand cooperation in AI research and training

(Dan Tri) - FPT Corporation has just signed an agreement to expand cooperation with Mila AI Research Institute (Canada) to promote research, human resource training, solve Vietnam's major problems and put AI technology into practice.

Speaking at the event on August 13, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung said that Vietnam is identifying AI as one of the strategic technologies that need to focus on developing and gradually mastering.

Recently, the Government has issued many policies related to the development, application and governance of AI, and directed the development of the National Strategy on Artificial Intelligence for the new period and the National Artificial Intelligence Transformation Strategy.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, FPT and Mila (Canada) continue to expand cooperation in line with Vietnam's AI development orientation.

The Deputy Prime Minister expects that this relationship will create practical solutions for the country's major problems, bring value to the community and help Vietnam proactively participate in the global AI value chain.

Also at the event, the Deputy Prime Minister proposed that the two sides focus on cooperation in four key directions, including using practical products as a measure for research; develop a team of young experts and scientists; building AI in a safe, reliable and responsible way; At the same time, expand the cooperation ecosystem between the State, research institutes and businesses.

Previously, FPT and Mila began collaborating in 2020, when FPT became Mila's first strategic partner in Southeast Asia in AI research.

After 6 years, the two sides have published 162 scientific works, of which 126 works appeared at leading international conferences and journals, trained 80 young researchers and had 5 accepted patents.

In the new phase, FPT and Mila plan to expand research into areas such as platform modeling, agent AI, physical AI, and AI for network safety and security.

The two sides will also increase the exchange of researchers, human resource training and knowledge transfer, aiming to apply research results to solve practical problems of the public sector and businesses.

Immediately after the signing ceremony, the two sides will establish a joint working group to identify priority research directions and develop an implementation roadmap.

Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa, General Director of FPT Group, emphasized that FPT is committed to linking research with practical needs, aiming at specific products to serve national problems, contributing to the development of high-quality human resources.
