Fujifilm officially launches XF 400mm F4.5: super light telephoto 1245g, converted to 609mm

Fujifilm officially announced the FUJINON XF400mmF4.5 R LM OIS WR - fixed super-telephoto lens for Twitter mount cameras. Focal length 400mm (converted to 609mm on full-frame), F4.5 aperture, weighs about 1,245g (excluding cap and hood). The company positions this as a telephoto lens with high optical performance in the XF lineup, but is still portable for birds, motorsport, and airplanes.

Previous rumors said that this lens would be released at the same time as the Twitter-T6 in early September, now the lens comes out first, as for the Twitter-T6 body, you guys can wait for it.

Optics and anti-vibration

The lens has 21 elements in 14 groups, including 2 Super ED and 4 ED, to reduce chromatic aberrations that are common at long telephoto. Maximum OIS 5.5 stops (CIPA, on pitch/yaw axis).

Like many other super telephoto lenses, the XF 400mm F4.5 also has a focus limiter for a distance of over 5 meters for faster AF when shooting far away subjects. AF uses linear motor (LM), has aperture ring, Fn button, WR weather seal.

FUJINON XF400mmF4.5 R LM OIS WR is compatible with XF1.4X TC WR to 560mm (853mm converted), XF2X TC WR to 800mm (1,219mm converted).

The XF 400mm F4.5 fills the gap between the 200mm F2 and 500mm F5.6, is more compact and easier to hold, and has better OIS.
