MacBook Neo price drops by millions after a period of high growth

(Dan Tri) - The price gap between MacBook Neo and MacBook Air is becoming closer than before. This has unintentionally boosted sales of the MacBook Air product line.

Available in the Vietnamese market since mid-April, MacBook Neo has a starting price of 16.5 million VND for the 256GB version. This is also the cheapest MacBook model that Apple sells in the Vietnamese market.

During the low season, the MacBook Neo price dropped to 13.5 million VND for the standard version. However, by the end of June, Apple had increased the prices of a series of products, including the MacBook Neo. The cause comes from the scarcity of memory chip supply, which is becoming increasingly serious.

Accordingly, the price of MacBook Neo simultaneously increased by 3 million VND compared to before. The 256GB version increased from 16.5 million VND to 19.5 million VND, while the 512GB version increased from 19 million VND to 22 million VND.

Talking to Dan Tri reporter, Ms. Van Thi Ngoc Yen, Director of Apple products at Mobile Vietnam, said that in the early stages of price increase, MacBook Neo sales decreased slightly due to the waiting mentality of a part of users. After about 1-2 weeks, purchasing power showed signs of recovery and growth again.

"Even though the selling price has increased compared to before, the MacBook Neo is still one of the MacBook models with the most accessible prices, with good competitiveness when placed next to many Windows laptop models on the market. This is a factor that helps the product maintain its appeal to students and office users," this unit commented.

Up to now, this product line has begun to have prices adjusted by dealers as the supply has gradually become more stable. Specifically, MacBook Neo is offered by dealers at a price of 18.3 million VND, a decrease of 1.2 million VND compared to before. The 512GB version was also adjusted down by 1 million VND, down to a price of 21 million VND.

"From the time of launch until now, MacBook Neo accounts for about 52% of total MacBook sales sold at the system. Before the price increase, this proportion was about 56%, but after the adjustment, it decreased to 35%. Meanwhile, MacBook Air increased to nearly 59%," said representative Minh Tuan Mobile.

Also according to dealers, the price gap between MacBook Neo and MacBook Air is becoming closer than before. This has unintentionally boosted sales of the MacBook Air product line.

"When the product price approaches the threshold of 20 million VND, many customers tend to switch to MacBook Air. MacBook Neo still receives attention thanks to its easy-to-access positioning. However, MacBook Air is a more popular choice for general users," a representative of Hoang Ha Mobile shared.
