Instructions for creating a macOS Golden Gate installation USB

This installation USB is not required to install Golden Gate, but is especially useful if you have to install on multiple computers or are using a slow internet connection, avoiding having to redownload the installer many times. To get started, you need a blank USB with a minimum capacity of 16GB. You can use USB flash or an external SSD, as long as you can remove all the data inside because the process of creating the installer will erase the content.

Downloading the macOS Golden Gate installer is done right in Terminal using the command
. Previously, if users wanted to download the beta version, they needed to enable the Beta Updates option in Settings → General → Software Updates so that the system would allow access to test installations. In the list that appears, write down the version number of macOS Golden Gate you want to download (for example 27.0).

Next, paste the following command (replace 27.0 with the version of your choice), then press Return:
. The installer will now be downloaded to the Applications folder with the name "Install macOS Golden Gate" or "Install macOS Golden Gate Beta".

Then Open
. Open Terminal again, type sudo followed by a space. From the Resources folder, drag the createinstallmedia file and drop it into the Terminal window, then type --volume followed by a space. Plug in the USB and open it in Finder, making sure there is no more data to keep as everything will be erased. If the USB is in APFS format, open it
In Finder, go to
to see all mounted volumes. Find the correct USB volume you just plugged in, drag that volume and drop it into the Terminal window (append after --volume). Press Return to run the full command, enter the admin password when asked → Return. When Terminal asks for confirmation to erase the USB, type y → Return. If there is a dialog box asking for USB access permission, click OK so that Terminal is allowed to write to the drive. Wait for the process of deleting the USB and copying the Golden Gate installer to the USB to complete (takes a few minutes), then you can Eject the USB and use it as a USB to install macOS Golden Gate when needed. Okay, just like that, you already have the macOS Golden Gate installer, in fact, you can do the same with any macOS. We invite you to see more:
