Instructions for integrating passports into VNeID to use instead of hard copies

(Dan Tri) - The article below shows you how to integrate your passport into the VNeID application so that you can use it to replace the hard copy when needed.

VNeID (abbreviation for "Vietnam Electronic Identification") is an electronic identification application on mobile devices developed by the National Population Data Center, under the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam. The application has both Android and iOS versions.
VNeID application was born to replace traditional documents and identify citizens on a digital platform.
According to Decree 59/2022/ND-CP regulating electronic identification and authentication, documents integrated on the VNeID application have the same legal value as the original documents. Therefore, integrating documents into the VNeID application will help citizens easily present these documents, in case they forget documents or avoid the risk of documents being lost or damaged.
Up to now, VNeID has allowed the integration of many important documents such as Citizen Identification, Electronic Identification, health insurance cards, driver's licenses, vehicle documents...
Integrating your passport into the VNeID application will help you easily present information when needed, without having to carry a hard copy of your passport, reducing the risk of damaging or losing your passport.
To add passport information to the VNeID application, users need to upgrade the VNeID application to the latest version (this process will usually be done automatically on smartphones) and need to register for a level 2 electronic identity account.
Citizens cannot register for a level 2 identification account themselves, but must go to the police station of the commune or ward where they live or where they carry out procedures for issuance of CCCD cards to register.
After fully meeting the 2 requirements above, follow these steps to add passport information to the VNeID application:
- First, activate the VNeID application and log in to your electronic identity account.
- From the interface of the VNeID application, click "Document Wallet" in the menu below, then select "Document integration" at the interface that appears.

- Click the "Create new request" button, then select "Passport" in the "Information type" section.

- At the next interface, fill in the information including "Passport number", "Passport expiration date", check the option "I confirm the above information is correct", then press the "Send request" button.
The VNeID application will notify "Send request successfully" and ask the user to wait for the passport information to be integrated into the VNeID application.

The request approval process may take several days. After this process, passport information will be integrated into your VNeID application.
To check if your passport has been updated and integrated into the VNeID application, click on the "Document Wallet" section on the application. If the message "You have 1 information waiting for integration confirmation" appears, click on this message, select "Passport" from the list that appears and confirm integration of passport information into the VNeID application.
After the passport has been successfully integrated into the VNeID application, to present passport information, access the application, select "Document Wallet" from the menu below, then find and select "Passport" from the list that appears.

Passport information will appear on the VNeID application. You can click "View now" to view detailed passport information, or click "Action" and select "View electronic version" to display the passport as an electronic version.

Users can only present their passport on VNeID when they need to provide information or complete procedures such as taking a domestic flight... In case they need to complete customs procedures, users still have to use a hard copy passport to check information and stamp entry and exit.
