IFA 2026: Belkin launches semi-solid-state power banks: thinner, more durable and safer

Belkin launches UltraCharge Pro using semi-solid-state BoostSolid Cell battery, aiming for a thinner, more durable and safer power bank, with fast charging up to 60W. Belkin has just introduced the UltraCharge Pro backup battery line using semi-solid-state battery technology at IFA 2026. The most notable point lies in the new battery technology that is expected to make power banks thinner, more durable and safer for long-term use. Unlike traditional lithium-ion batteries that use liquid electrolyte, Belkin's BoostSolid Cell technology adds a gel layer in addition to the liquid electrolyte. According to Belkin, this design allows to increase density and optimize space inside the battery, thereby creating products with more compact dimensions. Belkin says UltraCharge Pro can last up to 3 times longer than other power banks. The company also focuses a lot on safety: the battery is designed to reduce the risk of heat runaway, fire or battery swelling, while maintaining stable operation in the temperature range of 0-40°C. An interesting detail is that the system uses both analog and digital temperature sensors to monitor the battery every 250 ms. If the temperature exceeds the allowable limit, the system can automatically turn off the power.

The most compact model is the UltraCharge Pro Slim Magnetic Power Bank 5K. The battery has a capacity of 5,000 mAh but the body is only 8.8 mm thick, about 40% thinner than some 5K power banks that Belkin used for comparison.

The product supports Qi2 with 15W wireless charging capacity, with a USB-C port that supports wired charging up to 20W/22.5W according to Belkin's announced configuration. The device also supports pass-through charging, has a soft-touch metal body and comes with a covered USB-C cable. Price in the US is 69.99 USD, available in two colors: black and sand.

The other model is the UltraCharge Pro 10K with Display, aimed at those who need more capacity to charge their phone, tablet or laptop. The 10,000 mAh capacity housed in a design is 27% smaller than the generation/group of products that Belkin used for comparison. The notable point is that USB-C capacity is up to 60W according to Power Delivery standard. Belkin says this power level can charge the iPhone 17 Pro to 50% in about 24 minutes. The battery has two USB-C ports, one USB-A port, supports PD, PPS, AVS and UFCS.

There is also a small screen that displays battery capacity, charging capacity and temperature information. With a high-capacity power bank, this is quite a practical feature because users can know exactly how it is working instead of just looking at a few LED lights. UltraCharge Pro 10K costs $89.99, also comes in two colors: black and sand. Both models use metal cases, plastic-free packaging and Belkin says they have undergone tests such as nail puncture, high temperature, low temperature, drop, impact and vibration.

It can be seen that Belkin is trying to bring semi-solid-state battery technology to a device that is already very popular and can easily be considered a "similar" product. If the claims about longevity and safety are proven well in practice, this could be a notable upgrade direction for power banks in the next few years. Two UltraCharge Pro models will be displayed by Belkin at IFA 2026, of which the 5K and 10K models are currently available to order on Belkin in the US.
