IFA26: Acer Vero 16, easy-to-repair laptop, equipped with Intel Core Ultra X9
At IFA 2026, Acer introduced Vero 16, the fourth generation of laptops aimed at sustainability. The highlight of the product lies in the design that prioritizes the ability to repair and upgrade, while the configuration is still aimed at the high-end segment with the Intel Core Ultra Series 3 platform and 16-inch OLED screen.
Acer said Vero 16 is a step from the 3R orientation of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle to 4R, adding Repairability. The bottom of the machine has a latch that opens without needing tools so users can access the internal components. The SSD and battery can be replaced, both sides of the device use removable connection port covers, and the hinges are also designed to be removed separately from the body when needing repair. More notable is the design aimed at repairability. Users can open the machine with a latch without tools to access internal components; The SSD, battery, some connection ports and hinges are all designed to be replaced or serviced when needed.
In terms of materials, the lid and palm rest area use 50% post-industrial recycled aluminum combined with 50% low carbon aluminum. The bottom uses 60% post-consumer recycled plastic, while the screen border contains 30% post-consumer recycled plastic. Acer also uses a solvent-free powder coating, which reduces emissions of volatile organic compounds and increases abrasion resistance compared to conventional paint. The chassis meets durability standards, and the packaging is made from recycled materials and is fully recyclable.
Acer Vero 16 can be equipped with Intel Core Ultra X9 388H, integrated Intel Arc B390 graphics and maximum 180 TOPS full-platform AI performance. The device supports a maximum of 32 GB LPDDR5x RAM, a maximum capacity of 512 GB SSD and a 71 Wh battery.
Depending on the version, Acer is equipped with a 16-inch OLED screen with 3K WQXGA+ resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate. There are also WUXGA OLED options, of which one version supports touch. The device integrates a 5 MP infrared webcam with a physical screen, serving Windows Hello login and online meetings. In terms of connectivity, Vero 16 has two Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI 2.1, SD card reader, Wi‑Fi 7 and two USB Type-A ports, including USB 3.2 Gen 1 and USB 3.2 Gen 2 that support charging when the device is turned off. Backlit keyboard, customizable Acer MyKey keys and anti-vibration dual speaker system.
As a Copilot+ PC running Windows 11, Vero 16 supports on-device AI features such as Click to Do, Cocreator, Live Captions with translation and Windows Studio Effects. Acer also integrates PurifiedView to improve webcam images, PurifiedVoice with AI noise cancellation, and AcerSense for performance management, battery, storage and AI tools. Acer Vero 16 is expected to be sold in the EMEA market from the first quarter of 2027. The company has not yet announced specific prices and configurations for each market.
