IFA26: Dell Alienware AW2527HX in hand: Samsung QD-OLED FHD 560Hz Penta Tandem panel for Esports

Alienware AW2527HX will be an extremely reasonable choice for e-sports players because it has a size close to 24.5 inch competition screens, an extremely high refresh rate of 560Hz and Dell chose Samsung's 5th generation Penta Tandem QD-OLED panel.

AW2527HX still uses the RGB Stripe subpixel structure like AW3226Q, Penta Tandem means there are 5 stacked organic light-emitting layers (Samsung describes it as 3 blue layers + 2 green layers in the new structure), helping to divide the current load, increasing lighting efficiency and longevity.

Samsung announced that the luminous efficiency increases by about 1.3 times and the panel life can be doubled compared to the previous 4-layer QD-OLED. Another advantage of RGB Stripe on a large-sized panel with not too high resolution is that RGB Stripe makes text and UI sharp, reducing color fringing.

Because it is an e-sports-oriented monitor, the AW2527HX combines RGB Stripe with Penta Tandem QD-OLED to achieve very high HDR brightness, strong color volume, extremely fast response, suitable for esports and competitive games. The advantage of QD-OLED is in color volume, especially in very bright and highly saturated color areas. Next is the AW2527HX, which achieves a peak brightness of 1500 nits and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 600 certification, which means the screen's full frame brightness must reach at least 350 nits, higher than the average of True Black 400 certified screens in the same segment. The Alienware 2527HX also has a response time of only 0.03ms, a great feature and advantage of OLED panels compared to IPS LCD. Normally, to have extremely low numbers below 3ms, manufacturers will often use TN panels combined with high refresh rates, or OLED.

Dell also equipped the Alienware 2527HX with an AGLR matte coating to reduce reflections, suitable for competition environments with strong spotlights and ceiling lights.

Regarding connectivity, the Alienware 2527HX is fully equipped with the necessary connections for Esports, for example we will have DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR13.5 that can pull up to the correct resolution and refresh rate of this screen, taking full advantage of the hardware's power to have the best e-sports experience.

Dell also has separate "mod" profiles for each Esport game like CS2, Valorant, APEX Legends, MOBA games, RPG games or even TN mode.

The design of the Dell Alienware AW2527HX also has outstanding elements such as a center position alignment ruler, a height gauge when placing the screen so that players can adjust it to suit their eye level, and a headphone hanger on the back.

Another factor that is also very important in e-sports is the screen placement angle. Dell allows users to place it close to eye level, close to the table surface and tilt the screen towards the player's eyes. This angle allows the player to focus more on the combat area, the image in front takes up more of the field of vision. With gunfights in the center of the screen, opponent characters can feel larger and more prominent.
