iPhone 18 may disappoint users

Previously leaked information revealed that the standard iPhone 18 will be upgraded to 12GB of RAM to better handle AI features in the Apple Intelligence toolkit.

However, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently said that the two versions of iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e will only be equipped with 9GB of RAM.

Worth mentioning, devices need at least 12GB of RAM to run the most powerful AI model on iOS 27. This means iPhone 18 will not support some features on Apple Intelligence and the new generation Siri AI virtual assistant.

Sources from the supply chain revealed that Apple is planning to downgrade some components on the iPhone 18, including the screen and processor chip. This move is intended to maintain the same price as its predecessor.

Accordingly, the iPhone 18 will have some hardware components cut, making the product have many similarities with the low-cost iPhone 18e version. The first cut lies in display quality.

Last year, the iPhone 17 had a 6.3-inch screen with ProMotion technology and maximum outdoor brightness of up to 3,000 nits. ProMotion is one of the new upgrades integrated into the standard iPhone line. Therefore, it is likely that the screen brightness parameter may be reduced.

Besides, reducing the number of processing cores inside the chip is also a solution to help the company reduce product costs. Previously, iPhone 17 and iPhone 17e both used the A19 chip. However, the version on the iPhone 17 has 5 GPU cores, instead of the 4-core version of the iPhone 17e.

Last week, Apple increased prices for a series of its products, including MacBook, iPad, Apple TV, HomePod and Vision Pro. The increase ranges from 15-30% depending on each version. The company said the reason for the price increase comes from escalating component costs.

"We have never seen component prices increase so much and so quickly. We have tried to protect our customers from price increases. However, the time has come for us to begin increasing prices on some products, including iPad and Mac. We know this is not good news and we are working hard to find a solution," Apple said.

iPhone devices were not affected in the recent price adjustment. However, the shortage of components is still happening and is becoming increasingly difficult to control. This makes many users worry about the possibility that Apple may increase prices for iPhones in the near future.
