(Dan Tri) - Many users reported that the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max had an error that caused the screen to become unresponsive, and the device even restarted itself in some cases.

According to user feedback on Apple's online support forum and social networking platforms, iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max may freeze and restart automatically when using Face ID to unlock a protected application on the device.

This situation does not appear to occur when users use Face ID to unlock the iPhone.

A reporter from technology site 9to5Mac said he also encountered this error when using Face ID on iPhone 18 Pro. Accordingly, the error occurs when Face ID cannot accurately recognize the user's face and requires retry. However, after the user presses the “Retry Face ID” button on the notification dialog box, the iPhone may stop responding and restart on its own.

iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max are equipped with a new Face ID system, with a more compact design to narrow the size of the Dynamic Island notch on the screen. Some sensors of the Face ID system are arranged below the screen. It is unclear whether the above errors originate from software or are related to the new Face ID design.

In addition to errors related to Face ID, some users said that the touch screen on the iPhone 18 Pro also crashes and becomes unresponsive despite continuously swiping on the screen. According to reports, this situation is only fixed after the user presses the screen lock button and then accesses the device again.

Some users believe that the above errors may be related to iOS 27, the new operating system released by Apple, instead of coming from the hardware of the iPhone 18 Pro.

If the cause is a software error, Apple can fix it through updates in the near future. In cases involving hardware, handling may be more complicated.

Some users experiencing errors on iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max said they have contacted Apple support. According to feedback, they were instructed to bring the device to the store for inspection and could exchange it for a new device because the product had just been sold and was still within the return policy period.

Apple has not yet commented on the errors reported by users on iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max.
