Jensen Huang: 'A company's stock can double after dinner with me'
"One of the most interesting things is finding out where and with whom I will have dinner. Their stock price doubled the next day," Mr. Huang said during the second quarter 2026 earnings call this week.
Economic Times evaluates that this funny saying is not baseless. In June, founder Dan Liu's blog specializing in statistics of the restaurants where Jensen Huang has eaten, reported that he visited a barbecue restaurant called "Hey man, it's me!" in Korea. At that time, he dined with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, LG Chairman Koo Kwang-mo and Naver founder Lee Hae-jin. Dan Liu said they enjoyed grilled meat wrapped in leaves and Koo grilled it for the whole group because he was the youngest.
According to Fortune, after news of Koo meeting Huang appeared, LG shares increased 30%. Shares of the group's subsidiaries also increased by about 17-29%.
The effect even spread to the places where the Nvidia founder ate. Bloomberg said that in October 2025, he ate chicken and drank beer with Samsung Electronics Chairman Jay Y Lee and Hyundai Motor Executive Chairman Chung Euisun. At that time, shares of poultry processing company Cherrybro, fried chicken company Kyochon F&B and related robotics company Neuromeka all increased in price.
During this week's meeting, Nvidia also impressed investors by reporting second quarter 2026 revenue of 96.2 billion USD, higher than analysts' estimate of 92.2 billion USD. The company also predicts that next year's revenue will increase by 70%, $100 billion higher than experts' estimates.
According to Fortune, Nvidia CEO is famous for regularly dining out during business trips around the world. Photographers caught him enjoying local food, tipping wait staff, and taking photos with crowds outside the restaurant and night market where he dined.
In 2024, Larry Ellison, co-founder of technology group Oracle, said he and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk invited Huang to dinner at Nobu Palo Alto restaurant and "begged" Huang to provide more graphics processing units (GPU). "Please accept our money. By the way, I've already taken care of dinner. We need you to receive more money, please," Ellison recounted, saying the plan was ultimately successful.
