From July 13, M365/Office will stop supporting a series of old Apple devices and will not allow editing/creating new ones.

You may not know, starting July 13, 2026, Microsoft will stop supporting Microsoft 365 and Office on many old Apple devices including Mac, iPhone and iPad. After this date, Microsoft 365/Office will be put into what Microsoft calls "reduced functionality mode", users can only open files to view and print, cannot edit or save, and cannot create new files. Microsoft sets the minimum requirement for Mac computers as macOS 12 (Monterey) and for iPhone/iPad it is from iOS 17 or iPadOS 17. Once the OS is updated, Microsoft 365/Office can be updated to the new, fully featured version. Microsoft said the above restriction applies to both Microsoft 365 subscriptions on macOS/iOS/iPadOS and Office 2019/2021 versions with permanent copyright on macOS. macOS 12 Monterey only officially supports the following Macs:

iOS 17/iPadOS 17 only officially supports:

So if you are using an older generation Mac or iPhone/iPad and cannot update macOS12 or iOS 17/iPadOS 17, the only way to continue using Microsoft 365/Office without having to change devices is the web version at Office.com with a limited number of features. Macworld
