(Dan Tri) - The iPhone market in Vietnam has entered a completely new phase when all popular price models have disappeared.

Previously, every time Apple launched a new product line, it often killed its predecessors to optimize production lines and sales. However, the company maintains a different product strategy in the Vietnamese market.

The clearest evidence is that the iPhone 11 (launched in 2019) and iPhone 12 (launched in 2020) are still on sale until mid-2025. These two models are constantly having their selling prices adjusted and at times reduced to about 10 million VND.

This strategy helps the company expand its customer base to the popular segment, while also creating conditions for users to buy new iPhones at a lower cost.

"During normal business periods, the iPhone group in the mid-range segment contributes about 12-15% of iPhone industry sales. When smartphone prices increase, consumers tend to consider and make more cautious decisions," said Ms. Van Thi Ngoc Yen, Apple product manager at Di Dong Vietnam.

The market has gradually changed when the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 duo became scarce and disappeared from genuine store shelves in the middle of the year. The removal of old models also directly establishes a new price level for iPhone in Vietnam.

Not stopping there, Apple continued to adjust the prices of a series of iPhone models due to pressure on component costs. On Apple's online store, there are no longer any iPhone models priced under 20 million VND. Even the iPhone 17e was launched in March with a price of 18 million VND but has now increased to 22 million VND.

This wave of price increases immediately led to new floor prices in retail channels. Currently, the lowest selling price of an iPhone 15 or iPhone 17e at authorized dealers is set at 20 million VND.

"The prices of older generation iPhone models have fluctuated, causing the purchasing power of this product group to decrease quite deeply compared to before. However, these short-term fluctuations do not fully reflect the nature of the market," said a representative of Hoang Ha Mobile.

After the price adjustment period, the threshold for Vietnamese consumers to own a genuine new iPhone has increased significantly. Accordingly, users will have to pay a minimum of 20 million VND to buy a new iPhone.

"When older iPhone models are out of stock, the price to own a genuine new iPhone in Vietnam gradually increases with a common threshold of 20 million VND. This can increase the financial barrier for a part of users, especially the general customer group that previously often chose old iPhone models with accessible prices," Minh Tuan Mobile representative shared.
