Galaxy Z Fold8 mobile picture frame
Recently, when using Galaxy Z Fold8 as my main device, besides normal work or entertainment tasks, I discovered an extremely interesting way to take advantage of this folding screen on my desk: turn it into a smart electronic picture frame.
In the past, you probably weren't unfamiliar with items like the Google Nest Hub or picture frames from Amazon and Meta specifically used to place on desks or corners of the room. With the Z Fold8, thanks to the advantage of a square and large internal screen, I can completely recreate that experience flexibly without having to buy a separate smart device.

To set up the Fold8 as a photo frame on the table, I chose to use a stand from Zagg to place the device on every time I sit at the desk. From an accessory perspective, I like to put a MagSafe skin patch on the back. Personally, I'm very satisfied with the current sticker on the Z Fold8, so I don't want to remove it and re-stick it, so I use my foot to apply it.
Regarding display software, the application I chose to turn my device into a picture frame is called Pixfolio. I bought a lifetime package of this app for just over 100k, a price I find very good for what it brings.
This application has a very intuitively designed interface and supports copying photos directly from your Google Photos account. You can choose to play photos according to specific albums or create separate playlists to your liking. What I appreciate about Pixfolio is its deep customization capabilities, from transition effects to displaying additional useful information right on the frame such as time clock, shooting location, album name or weather forecast.
The emotional and functional value of an extra monitor on the desk
Many people may think that opening the phone just to show pictures is a rather niche and redundant need, but when I directly experience it every day, I find it brings great spiritual value. Every morning when you walk into the company, sit at your desk and just stare at a single computer screen, the surrounding space can sometimes be a bit boring.
When I open the Z Fold8, put it on the base and let it automatically play back moments about trips, people you've met or photos taken with family, the feeling of working becomes much more relaxing. Sometimes typing on the keyboard causes eye strain, glancing at the screen and seeing a happy memory, my spirit is naturally recharged with positive energy to continue working more effectively.
Besides being a still picture frame, this machine is also an extra screen when I sit and work. While the main computer screen is processing work, I often turn on YouTube or a long podcast episode running in the background on Fold8. Every time I hear a good share or an interesting illustration, I just need to glance down to grasp the content immediately. Instead of letting the phone lie still in my free time, this method helps me make the most of the display area of the large screen in many situations.
Take advantage of the flexible tent mode when carrying no accessories
In situations where you are not sitting at a desk or not carrying a leather base or MagSafe stand, the Z Fold8 still promotes its strength thanks to its flexible folding and opening mechanism. Most typically, in the evenings when I go to the kitchen to cook, I often fold the device into an upside-down V-shaped tent and place it neatly on the kitchen table. In this position, the machine stands firmly on both sides without any support, the external screen becomes a small independent screen for you to cook while watching videos, listening to music or letting the machine display images on its own.
Although this is just a very niche usage stemming from personal living habits, it shows the practical values that a folding screen phone can bring if we know how to exploit it properly.
