Lexus "teased" the pure electric LFA Concept at Goodwood

Lexus presented the prototype (concept/prototype) of the pure electric version of the LFA at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, taking place in the UK from July 9 to 12, 2026. This is the public appearance of a car model developed to inherit the name LFA - a supercar line that previously used a V10 engine - but completely switched to an electric motor. In terms of size, the car has a length of 4,689 mm, a width of 2,040 mm, a height of 1,194 mm and a wheelbase (distance between two wheel axles) of 2,725 mm. These measurements are equivalent to many current supercar models such as the Aston Martin DB12 or Ferrari Roma.

The car is built on a lightweight aluminum frame platform, sharing the same architecture with the Toyota GR GT - an internal combustion engine sports car also introduced at the same event. According to Lexus' announcement, the electric LFA is expected to be the company's first production car model to use solid-state batteries, a type of battery with higher energy density, faster charging ability and more stable in extreme temperature conditions than the commonly used liquid batteries. Regarding performance goals, Lexus announced a development target for acceleration time from 0-100 km/h at more than 2 seconds, with a travel distance after a single charge exceeding 400 miles (equivalent to more than 640 km) according to an unspecified test cycle. These are development goals, not official production vehicle specifications.

Many other important parameters have not yet been announced by Lexus, including electric motor capacity, number of motors, specific battery capacity, charging speed, exact acceleration time and maximum speed. In terms of design, the car pursues a restrained visual language, focusing on functional aerodynamics instead of performance details like on many racing cars. Because there is no longer an internal combustion engine, Lexus' engineering team focused on developing haptic feedback and linear acceleration to create a unique driving feel, instead of simulating the engine sound or gearshift feeling like a traditional manual car. The company also said it is making adjustments to reduce unwanted vibrations, while taking advantage of the electric motor's immediate response. According to the announced plan, the production version of the pure electric LFA is expected to launch on the market in 2027.
