The MacBook series has just been discontinued in Vietnam

(Dan Tri) - According to a survey by Dan Tri reporter, many Apple authorized dealers in Vietnam (AAR) have now stopped selling older computer models such as MacBook Air M2, MacBook Air M4 and MacBook Pro M4.
This decision marks a major change in Apple's business thinking compared to before. In previous years, Apple often applied the strategy of extending product life cycles by reducing prices of older models. This move helps the company reach more customer groups.

For example, the MacBook Air M2 model was discontinued by Apple in March 2024 but is still available for sale by dealers until early 2026. Similarly, the MacBook Air M4 line also continued to be sold in Vietnam for a period of time even though the company removed the product on the official website.
At the present time, Apple has changed its strategy by only focusing on selling its new generation computer lines including MacBook Neo, MacBook Air M5 and MacBook Pro M5.
According to some experts, the move to kill off a series of older computer lines is part of Apple's cost optimization strategy. In the context of limited memory chip supply and continuously rising component prices, streamlining the product portfolio helps the company operate more efficiently.
"Since the beginning of May, Apple has begun streamlining many product lines, including the Mac mini M4 256GB version. Next is a series of older products such as MacBook Air M2, M4. At this time, efforts to control costs and optimize operational efficiency are more important than expanding the product portfolio," said a representative of Mobile America.
At the end of June, Apple increased prices for a series of its products in the Vietnamese market, including MacBook, Mac mini and iPad. The increase ranges from 15-30% depending on each version. Many systems said that product sales slowed down immediately after Apple increased product prices.

"Vietnamese users are quite sensitive to price fluctuations. Apple's increase in prices of some MacBook and iPad lines certainly creates certain impacts on the market, especially in the short term when consumers tend to consider more carefully before deciding to purchase," Minh Tuan Mobile representative shared.
This year, CellphoneS launches the "Tung Tung Deal Huge" program, offering price incentives, additional vouchers of up to 3 million VND when upgrading technological equipment. In addition, student customers also receive an additional discount of up to 10%, and receive a subsidy of up to 5 million when selling an old device for a new device.
It can be seen that agents still deploy incentive programs to help users access technology products more easily. However, these programs can only partially offset the price difference that Apple has just adjusted.
