Reasons why durability and warranty are increasingly important for student laptops

(Dan Tri) - Student laptops often pay a lot of attention to their configuration and price, but their durability and long-term after-sales policy can determine more about their 3-4 years of college experience.

For students, a laptop is often an investment that is expected to last three to four years, from studying, working on projects to internships and even the first job. The device is also often brought to school, moved in a backpack and used in many different environments. Therefore, durability and long-term support are of great significance, because a problem in the middle of the learning process can lead to both repair costs and downtime.

However, these are factors that are difficult to compare in the popular laptop market. In the same price range, CPU, RAM, screen or design can all be seen right on the spec sheet and are often prioritized to create competitiveness. Meanwhile, structural quality, durability testing process or support ability after several years of use are rarely as prominent as configuration numbers.

These requirements are inherently more emphasized on business laptops, where devices are designed for high frequency use and long life cycles. But this product group has long been associated with corporate customers, high prices or sales channels for businesses, causing students to rarely consider this as an option when buying a device.

That gap is creating a new need: laptops that are accessible enough for individual users but still have the durability and after-sales policies commonly found on business products.

Bringing corporate durability and after-sales closer to students

ASUS ExpertBook is one of the product lines targeting this gap. Originally developed for business environments, the model has a standard two-year warranty, longer than the one year typically found on many consumer products.

Depending on the product and service package, users can also choose policies such as on-site warranty, international support in more than 80 markets, extended warranty up to 5 years, keeping the hard drive when replacing or on-site technical support the next working day.

During this year's back-to-school season, ASUS continues to extend the warranty period for individual users. Customers who purchase ExpertBook P Series, BM1403CDA and B3405CCA from August 5 to September 30 will receive an additional year of warranty, bringing the total period to three years.

ExpertBook P3 and PM3 models meet MIL-STD-810H durability standards, and undergo ASUS's testing system with tests to simulate common impacts during use. The company tests the hinge with tens of thousands of opening and closing cycles, plugging and unplugging the connection port thousands of times, testing the torsion resistance of the chassis and pressure on the shell, helping students feel secure even when carrying the device in their backpack every day, constantly opening and closing and connecting to many peripheral devices.

Long-term usability comes not only from durability but also from hardware that can meet demands for many years. ExpertBook P3 and PM3 support up to 64 GB DDR5 RAM with two RAM slots and two SSD slots to upgrade when needed. P3 has the option of Core i5/i7 H series for high performance, while PM3 goes up to AMD Ryzen AI 7 with powerful AMD Radeon 780M integrated graphics card for graphics tasks. The machines also come pre-installed with copyrighted Windows 11, helping users feel more secure about long-term software updates and support.

Aiming for durability without sacrificing portability, ExpertBook P3 and PM3 have a starting weight of about 1.36kg and 1.34kg respectively, suitable for the daily need to bring the device to school, library or work.

The ExpertBook range also ranges from P1 in the accessible segment to P5 for those who need high-end, lighter and more powerful AI devices. More importantly, products are now sold in large retail systems, instead of only through corporate project channels. Thanks to that, students can buy ExpertBook like a regular laptop, but access the durability and after-sales values that are the strengths of business machines.

For the 2026 back-to-school season, Asus launches the "Warranty upgrade with Asus ExpertBook series" program. When purchasing ExpertBook P-series models, users will be upgraded to an additional 1-year warranty worth 1,365 million VND, a 3-year warranty on the battery synchronized with the device and convenient on-site warranty service. The program applies to customers who issue invoices from now until September 30 and register to receive incentives before October 30.
