I had the opportunity to experience REDMI Headphones Neo - the first over-ear design headphones under the REDMI brand.

A plus point of REDMI Headphones Neo is that the earcups can be folded. This helps me easily store the device in my backpack.

Function key details

The left earcup of REDMI Headphones Neo has a recording mic for calling and noise canceling functions. Meanwhile, the right earcup is where the function keys and USB-C charging port are located. These function keys include: Power key, volume up/down key and MFB key (short for Multi Function Button - assigns functions to headphones). I find that the location of the keys on the right ear will be suitable for most right-handed users.

The manufacturer shares that the ear cushions of REDMI Headphones Neo are made from skin-friendly protein leather and I find the wearing feeling soft and very comfortable. Besides, the foam layer is also breathable, maintaining comfort even when worn for a long time (at least 1 hour or more).

A few highlights

After a few days of using the REDMI Headphones Neo headphones, I still don't fully understand the product. So in this section, I will use more information from the manufacturer combined with personal experience. 1. Integrated ambient noise reduction function up to 42 dB: REDMI Haedphones Neo has active noise cancellation (ANC) function and we can manually select 3 levels in Xiaomi Earbuds software. I like quiet when enjoying music, so of course I choose the highest noise canceling level.

In the Xiaomi Earbuds software, there is also an adaptive noise canceling function for REDMI Headphones Neo, which means the headphones automatically adjust to changes in environmental noise. I don't like this function so I turned it off.

According to my experience, REDMI Headphones Neo can eliminate about 80% of ambient noise. 2. Impressive sound quality thanks to the 40 mm titanium-plated driver, with Hi-Res music plug-in mode: REDMI Headphones Neo is equipped with a 40 mm titanium-plated driver that helps the device reproduce deep bass and clear highs (according to the manufacturer).

For me - someone who is not too specialized in sound, REDMI Headphones Neo performs at a good level of sound quality if connected to Bluetooth. In case I plug in the USB-C cable and connect it to the MacBook, the sound quality in my opinion is much better. This is the advantage of the device supporting USB Audio with Hi-Res Audio certification.

I really like using REDMI Headphones Neo with a wired connection to my MacBook.

I can also customize the EQ in the Xiaomi Earbuds software so that the sound quality suits my taste. A note for you is that we must turn on the power of REDMI Headphones Neo when connecting the wire to another device. Otherwise, the headset will only accept charging. 3. Battery life up to 72 hours: The manufacturer says REDMI Headphones Neo can operate for 72 hours on a single charge. As for my needs, listening to music for about 1 - 2 hours continuously every day, REDMI Headphones Neo can operate for more than 3 days before needing to recharge.
