One way to have something to talk about with your child… watch a movie together

I watch it with my children for fun, to have more opportunities to be together, but what I get is much greater. My children and I, who are many generations apart, have the same passion, a hobby, a culture... something beyond my thinking and calculation. It's so wonderful.

If you don't have the same passion, it's difficult to talk

I can sit and talk to someone for an hour or a whole day, but I have difficulty doing that with my parents or siblings. The reason can be easily understood as the story. I only ask my parents and brothers about family matters, work, health... Social things, general things. I can't talk to my mother or father about the iPad Pro M4 or the technology in the 115" MiniLED TV that makes the brightness up to 5000 nits... because both of us are not at the same level of understanding and the words to exchange are not mutually understandable. However, on the contrary, we can talk to someone who is a stranger, even though we just met for the first time, but has the same information, the same dictionary, and the same issues that both sides care about and learn about.

Star Wars: a culture you can share with your children

I discovered that my kids and I talk about Star Wars a lot and we both have feelings. Then, when communicating with each other every day, both sides use words and actions that both understand and find fun. For example, on May 4 (May the Forth), my children and I suddenly found it similar to the sentence "May the force be with you" which is said a lot in the movie Clone Wars, a movie in the Star Wars world.

Or during my trip across the United States in 2022, I was very happy to see a Baby Yoda (Grogu) doll in a second-hand store that I bought for my daughter and she absolutely liked and loved it. The doll is not beautiful, but both me and my child really like it because it is a character that we both love. Or when you watch the movie Star Wars, you see a lot of spaceships. I also like it so I go learn about spaceships, my kids also like it... and even though we're not together, we both look at the information, watch clips about that spaceship... then bring each other out to talk about it... let's talk about it.

Many of the movies my father and I watch together have books about them. That is, those movies are made based on previously written books. Dune, Star Wars, SimpSon... all have books, so my children often ask me to buy books from those movies to read more. And I benefited a lot because after reading the book, it spoke to me and explained to me the details of the movie so I could better understand the movie.

The Mandalorian is a series released from 2019 to 2023 in the Star Wars world and is very good. Actually, when I experienced it on the 88" size, I thought it was complete, but when I watched it on a larger TV, typically a 115" TCL TV, I had a really different experience.

My daughter and I watched the movie Inside Out part 1 again before she went to see it in theaters with her mom. Because I prefer privacy and gathering with my family at home, I chose to upgrade to a large screen TV that meets Imax Enhanced standards like in theaters for easier enjoyment.

This summer vacation, I'm also displaying the TCL X955 Max 115" model, so it's convenient for "little customers" to try it out and see what the comments are.
