People waiting to buy a folding screen iPhone may be disappointed

(Dan Tri) - According to exclusive news from Australia's ChannelNews, the first folding screen iPhone will not be on sale at the same time as the iPhone 18 Pro duo next September.

Instead, Apple will release this model in the US market first, then in key markets like China in the next 2-3 months.

The release in batches is said to be due to supply constraints and pricing issues. This source also confirmed that Apple is having difficulty testing product samples.

In fact, this is not the first time Apple has applied the strategy of releasing new products in batches. When Vision Pro launched in February 2024, the device was initially only available in the US.

After that, Apple's smart glasses were released in other markets such as China, Japan and Singapore in June. Followed by Australia, Canada, France, Germany and the UK in July.

The reasons why Apple is forced to release Vision Pro in batches include low production and the level of readiness of the retail store system. Plus, this is a completely new product line for Apple. All three of these elements are similar to the company's first folding screen phone.

According to DigiTimes, Apple is facing some technical difficulties during the production of the folding screen iPhone. Specifically, the report reveals that the technical validation phase could cause a delay of 1-2 months due to issues related to the hinge structure and screen durability testing.

Initial leaked information confirmed that the folding screen iPhone will be announced in September, at the same time as the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. However, with issues related to the production process, it is unclear when exactly this device will be announced.

In a post on the social network Weibo, the Digital Chat Station account (who often reveals leaked information about Apple) said that the folding screen iPhone will be equipped with 2 batteries. The rated battery capacity of these two batteries is 1,921mAh and 2,962mAh respectively. Accordingly, the total battery capacity of the device reaches 4,883mAh.

This dual battery design is suitable for smartphone models with horizontal folding screens. Compared to competitors on the market, the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold has a total battery capacity of 5,015mAh, while the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has a capacity of 4,400mAh.

According to MacRumors, the folding iPhone will have a screen of about 7.8 inches when unfolded. This size is equivalent to the screen on the iPad mini model. The selfie camera will be placed in the upper left corner of the screen.

Meanwhile, the device's external screen is 5.5 inches in size. This screen has a shorter and more square ratio than current iPhones. This design is similar to the design of a passport.
