Users can turn off watermark in Gemini photos and videos

Previously, all works created with Gemini were by default tagged with an AI copyright watermark. However, after receiving comments from the user community, Google decided to update the control feature, allowing flexibility in hiding this detail.

Users can customize in three steps. First, open Gemini's app or web interface, access Settings in the left menu. Next, scroll down near the bottom of the menu list and find the Media Watermark option, then toggle the status between On or Off.

Although the watermark will be removed when users choose to turn it off, Google affirms that the hidden security layers are kept intact. All output products still contain SynthID hidden encryption technology and C2PA data code integrated deep inside the file. Thanks to that, scanning systems can still accurately identify and verify whether content is created by AI or not.

The above adjustment comes from a personal survey by Josh Woodward, Vice President in charge of Google Labs, Gemini and AI Studio. In the list of the 10 most awaited recommendations by users, removing watermarks displayed on AI images and videos is one of the top requests.
