The network sells 5G packages with copyright services

Viettel in early October announced two new 5G packages, YT150 and YT200, for prepaid subscribers. In particular, the YT150 package costs 150,000 VND per month, includes 4 GB of storage per day, and a YouTube Premium account. YT200 package costs 200,000 VND, with equivalent capacity but free data when accessing some social networks, with call incentives. Previously, this network launched a 5G package with integrated CapCut Pro license priced at 150,000 VND/month.
MobiFone also deploys a number of packages such as 5GV priced at 200,000 VND, VinaPhone has VIP199 package priced at 199,000 VND with 8 GB capacity per day. The common point of the packages is free data and support for watching many copyrighted television services.

Integrating entertainment services and digital content creation into packages is not a new approach, but is being promoted by network operators to attract users, instead of reducing prices.
Besides data, packages have additional access or incentives for a group of platforms and content services. If the right needs are met, they can help users save tens of thousands of dong each month. For example, with YouTube Premium, the subscription price in Vietnam is 79,000 VND per month, excluding taxes and fees. Meanwhile, a 4 GB data package per day, equivalent to 120 GB for 30 days, on the market costs about 120,000-130,000 VND. If buying the two services separately, users will spend more than 200,000 VND, and with the network's package, they can save more than 25% each month.
"Experiencing these subscription packages is also a way for users to consume more capacity, necessary in the context that 5G is being encouraged to be popularized in Vietnam," said a network representative.
According to a network sales employee, the trend appeared after the data capacity on 5G packages became increasingly large, up to hundreds of GB per month. At the same time, the demand for using copyrighted applications is also increasing.
The effectiveness of the packages has not been disclosed. However, according to a network operator representative, this approach is selective as not all accompanying services are suitable for the majority. For example, most packages currently focus on supporting entertainment services, social networks, and content creation, which not everyone uses.
At the press conference of the Ministry of Science and Technology at the end of September, the Department of Telecommunications assessed that having a healthy and transparent competitive market among telecommunications businesses is one of the reasons why Vietnamese telecommunications is among the top in the world.
Ookla's latest statistics show that both mobile and fixed networks in Vietnam are in the top 10 globally. In addition, 4G network covers 99.8% of Vietnam's population, 5G covers more than 90% of the population, while fiber optic cable reaches 100% of communes, and the price is also among the "cheapest in the world".
