OpenAI launches its first hardware device

(Dan Tri) - OpenAI has launched its first hardware device, but this is a product aimed at a specialized user group, instead of serving the needs of general use.
There are many rumors that OpenAI, the company behind the famous ChatGPT software, will soon enter the hardware market with a smart wireless speaker model, integrated with artificial intelligence.

However, OpenAI's first hardware product is a wireless keyboard called Codex Micro, developed in collaboration with keyboard design firm Work Louder.
Codex Micro is not a keyboard for regular text input. The device has a compact design, integrates an RGB backlight system, includes 13 programmable mechanical keys, a knob and a joystick.
The product is designed for programmers using Codex - an AI programming support tool developed by OpenAI.
Through Codex Micro, users can monitor the operating status of the Codex AI agent with a backlight system, test AI-generated code, activate pre-set programming tasks or use voice control.
Users can also customize the position and function of each key to suit their workflow.

OpenAI has opened preorders for the Codex Micro for $230. The company said the product will be sold in limited quantities.
Because it was developed for a group of programmers using Codex, Codex Micro is not aimed at general users.
The launch of Codex Micro marks OpenAI's first step into the hardware sector. Previously, many sources said that the company was developing more specialized AI devices, including smart speakers and a phone model deeply integrated with AI technologies. However, OpenAI has not confirmed this information.
