(Dan Tri) - Qualcomm launched two high-end mobile chips Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, of which the Extreme version has some upgrades in performance, AI processing and video recording capabilities.

Instead of introducing a high-end chip version, Qualcomm this time simultaneously launched Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. The two chips are aimed at smartphone models in the high-end segment, with many similarities in architecture, configuration and features.

According to Qualcomm, both chips are manufactured on a 2nm process and have 8 processing cores, including 2 high-performance cores with a maximum clock speed of 5GHz and 6 high-performance cores at 4GHz. This is a high clock speed for a mobile chip.

The two versions have many similarities in configuration, while Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 is positioned by Qualcomm in the higher segment, with some improvements in CPU, GPU performance and processing of AI tasks.

The notable difference between the two chips lies in video processing capabilities. Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 supports 8K video recording at 60 fps and 4K at 240 fps. The chip is also equipped with an NPU with larger memory capacity, aimed at improving the ability to handle AI tasks, including some support features when playing games.

Basically, the differences between the two versions focus on performance and some specialized features, especially AI and video processing capabilities. This allows manufacturers to choose the appropriate chip version for the configuration and product segment.

Motorola is the first company to confirm the use of Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 on the high-end smartphone Signature 27. According to Qualcomm, products using the two new chips will also be introduced by Vivo, Xiaomi, Oppo, Honor and some other brands in the near future.
