Cheap robot vacuum cleaners are no longer popular with Vietnamese people

(Dan Tri) - The robot vacuum cleaner market in Vietnam is going through a period of strong transition when users no longer prioritize choosing cheap products.
According to a report from market research company GfK, the market share of low-cost robot vacuum cleaners (2-4 million VND) in the first quarter decreased by 68% compared to the same period in 2025. The popular segment (6-8 million VND) also decreased by 32% in the same period.

Meanwhile, the product group in the mid-range price segment (VND 8-10 million) has risen to become the main development driving force, accounting for 21.6% of the entire market. This segment also recorded growth exceeding the 100% mark compared to the same period last year.
This fluctuation reflects a clear shift in the purchasing trend of smart home appliances among Vietnamese consumers. Instead of choosing low-cost models with many reduced features or expensive high-end product lines, most users prioritize the mid-range segment, which provides a balanced experience between investment costs and actual use value.
Grasping the above trend, big brands such as Dreame, Roborock, Ecovacs or Xiaomi also simultaneously promoted the strategy of "popularizing" technology. This shift not only increases user experience but also creates exciting competition between big names in the market.
With a cost of about 10 million VND, users can own robot vacuum cleaner models that integrate a multi-function charging station that automatically dumps trash and washes rags, a 360-degree LDS laser navigation system, a large capacity water tank, the ability to automatically identify carpets and smart map management.
These features were originally the privilege of high-end robots, but now companies are constantly bringing them to the lower segment.
For example, the Dreame D30 Ultra CE model costs more than 10 million VND but has a suction force of up to 25,000Pa, superior to competitors in the same segment. Strong suction power allows the machine to easily clean many types of dirt on many floor surfaces.
The robot also supports the TriCut anti-tangle brush, allowing it to completely handle the problem of the main brush tangling in hair or fur. These equipment previously only appeared on robot vacuum cleaner product lines costing more than 20 million VND.

Meanwhile, the Ecovacs Deebot T30C model priced at 13 million VND is equipped with edge cleaning technology similar to many models in the high segment. The Xiaomi Vacuum H50 model, priced at 9 million VND, takes advantage of Xiaomi's smart ecosystem...
Of course, manufacturers still have to make some cuts to maintain competitive prices. The robot's ability to recognize small objects such as wires, socks or tissues is still limited.
In addition, robots in the mid-range segment often do not support automatic water supply and discharge systems or specialized cleaning solution boxes. However, these limitations do not affect the daily experience too much.
The fact that companies continuously bring high-end technology to the mid-range price segment brings many benefits to users. The 10 million VND segment is also gradually becoming the "sweet spot" of the market, showing the Vietnamese consumer trend of prioritizing the balance between price and features.
