Rokid Glasses: After a week of wearing it, I believe this is the most perfect wearable AI assistant today

I'm wearing Rokid glasses, and after about a week of use, I realized something that I didn't dare to think about when I first picked it up: this is not simply a smart glass. For me, it is truly an AI assistant, and almost the most perfect AI assistant I have ever experienced up to this point. In this article, I will share with you my AI experience with the glasses, explain the technology behind it that makes it a true assistant, then talk about the features of a smart glass such as camera, speaker, screen, applications you can exploit, and finally who really needs it.
First of all, why do I call it a real AI assistant?
I have dabbled in AI a lot. Chatbot on the phone, on the computer, I talk to the voice assistant, it answers me through the speaker, I've been through it all. But these glasses are a different category. The reason is simple: we wear it on our face, very naturally, very easily, and there is almost always a "person" next to us to ask, to wait for an answer. That feeling is completely different from having to take out your phone, open the app, type and wait.
Input: camera, microphone and phone connection
First is the camera on the glasses frame. When I look at an object, I just need to ask: "What is this?", it will use the camera to take a picture and explain it to me. I see a foreign language sentence I don't understand, I look at it and ask: "What does this sentence mean?", it also takes a picture and translates it for me. I tried the dish in front of me, and he answered clearly: this is a dish of rice rolls served with pork sausage, sour cream, fried shrimp cakes, bean sprouts and herbs; Next to it is a bowl of chili garlic fish sauce and a glass of iced tea. That means it can not only recognize the main dish but also the surrounding side dishes. From this ability, you can expand a lot: watch movies with subtitles, translate signs, recognize objects, almost anything that comes into view.

The camera is close to your eyes, which means your assistant will have a very close look and look like you, so your questions will be answered accurately.

Look and ask anything, it can answer comfortably because it is connected to a smartphone and gets information from the internet Second is the microphone. It does two things: listen to your voice and listen to the sounds of the surrounding environment to understand the context of where you are and what you need. The point I appreciate the most is language ability. This glasses understands many different languages, including Vietnamese, and it understands in a natural language style. Unlike the old virtual assistants, which force us to say the correct commands, correct syntax, and even have to speak English to be heard. Rokid uses AI Gemini, so I just talk to it in normal Vietnamese. Whatever you say, it will understand, and then give you very accurate information. I don't need to learn how to give orders, just speak like you would a friend.

There is a microphone on the frame of the glasses to listen to commands as well as listen to ambient sounds. Combined with the location from the smartphone, the glasses understand the surrounding context and the context of the conversation to give answers to the questioner easily and intelligently.
Third is connecting to the phone. When paired with a phone, the glasses expand many possibilities, especially positioning. The phone has GPS so you know where you are. Once you know the location, your search ability explodes. I said: "I want to go drink coffee", he suggested a shop nearby. I said: "I want to go to Every Half Coffee, is there any shop nearby?", he heard the right name and replied: "Found Every Half Coffee Roasters at 232 Vo Thi Sau, Ward 7, District 3, more than 1 km from your location. Do you want to lead the way?". I said: "Yes", it led the way. While on the way, I suddenly remembered that I wanted to buy a new backpack that I saw recommended so I asked. It introduced backpack stores in District 3 like MIA, then asked exactly what kind of backpack I wanted. I clearly stated that it was a camera backpack distributed by BHAsia. It immediately found BHAsia's official showroom at building 325 Tran Nhat Duat, Tan Dinh Ward, District 1, and even reminded me that this location was in a different direction from the road I was on. Previously I had to do these things on my phone or computer, had to type, had to wait, which was very time consuming. Now I just speak by voice, it responds by voice and opens the map, I just go. Sitting down to drink coffee, I asked idly: "How many cups of coffee is good to drink a day?", it automatically cited the source to answer. Anyone who has ever used AI knows that we can ask it anything, so it's the same here, whatever we ask it will answer. I said: "Update me with world news, Vietnam news, technology news", it all updated, very smoothly.
Output: screen, speaker and phone application
This is where I see Rokid surpassing. With other voice AI assistants, the output is usually just the speaker. As for these glasses, the output has up to three layers: the screen right on the glasses, the speaker on the frame and even an application on the phone. On the phone app, you can review everything you have discussed with the glasses, and you can review it anytime you want. You can even record content displayed on the glass for later viewing, take screenshots, or take photos and videos with the camera. This means that every conversation and every thing you see can be saved and looked up. Because of so many inputs and so many outputs, the glasses turn into a true AI assistant, not a toy that only listens and speaks through speakers. And the point worth mentioning is that when you buy these glasses, you can almost use that AI for free. Rokid's AI combines all the inputs and outputs I just mentioned, creating an experience that I think just being an AI assistant alone is worth the price.

There is a speaker on the frame of the glasses aimed at the ear, so talking will be comfortable.
Screen: reminiscent of Matrix, but clear and bright
Rokid's screen is monochrome, green. Anyone who watches action movies, especially The Matrix with blue text running on a black background, will feel familiar. This glass uses the same color scheme, but the screen is very clear and very bright. According to theoretical specifications, the brightness is up to 1,500 nits. My practical experience is that I can comfortably drive on the street or sit at a coffee shop, look around and still read the content clearly. I think of the spy movie 007 or some Korean movies, when the character holds the device to take a photo, a moment later the information appears. These glasses are the same. I looked at the sign, asked: "What is this?", it took a picture, processed it for a while and then informed me. It's very quick to get great information right on the glasses.

When navigating, the map is located in the lower part of the glass, like a map under a car dashboard. I look at the road above to run. If I want to see the map, I just need to glance down, very naturally. Every sentence I say is also displayed on the internal screen, and so is its answer, so I can follow the whole conversation with my eyes.
It's not just AI: it's still full smart glasses
In addition to being an AI assistant, Rokid is still a smart glasses with features like the Ray-Ban Meta models. There is a camera on one side to take photos and record videos. There are speakers and microphones on the frame to listen to music, listen to the radio, and make phone calls clearly and comfortably without affecting those around you.

And because it has a screen inside, it can also do things that regular glass can't do. For example, use it as a teleprompter or a teleprompter. You put on your glasses, look straight at the camera or at the participants in a workshop, an offline session or a study session. If you are a teacher, a speaker, a podcast host or video recorder, you put the content into the text prompt application, the words will automatically run on the glass screen. The person looking straight at you won't even know there's a running word in the glasses. Thanks to that, you speak correctly, say enough, not lacking, not wrong. A very cool application for people who often have to speak in front of crowds.
Navigation: I think there is no other device at this time
I want to talk specifically about navigation, because this is the place I love the most. Often when riding a motorbike, we guide the way with our phones, sometimes we have to stop and look. When I ride a Vespa, there is a screen on the vehicle to watch, some guys watch it on smart watches. But I think there's nothing better than the navigation on these glasses. The beauty is that it only displays exactly what you need: the arrow and how many meters are left. Then the speaker tells me how many meters left to turn left or right. More specifically, I don't need to type the destination into the map in the traditional way anymore. Typing an address takes a long time and is easy to make mistakes. Now I just need to say: "Take me to number 351/56 Le Van Sy", or "Take me to number 1 Le Duan", and it will find its own way. It's so simple that it's understood immediately, while typing by hand is much more intense. It's like a head-up display system in a car, which I think is even better than a head-up display, because it's clearer, brighter and has more information.
Appearance, battery and charging method
In terms of appearance, I'm wearing Rokid on my eyes and it's very simple, very similar to a normal pair of glasses. Only about 40g, the shape is normal, not bulky, and does not appear to be a "special technology item". Wear it, you look like a normal person. To me, that's important: wearing it like a regular pair of glasses, but inside is a whole big world.

It has a magnetic charger, just insert the charging head into the connection port and it will automatically inhale and charge. The case is just a regular box, there is no battery inside, so you can also use these glasses with other types of glasses cases. You can charge directly through the USB-C port using the adapter, you can even wear it while charging. If you have a small backup battery with you, connecting the charging cable is also very good. Charging is quite fast, the battery lasts about a few hours, plug it in for a little charge and it's full again.

Who needs these glasses?
Currently, smart glasses are being used quite commonly, the most popular is probably Ray-Ban Meta. But those glasses only have one main feature: taking photos and recording videos. The Meta Display version has an additional screen, but the features are very limited because it does not support Vietnamese. Even when I tried it in the US, it was still quite limited, it couldn't be as good as Rokid. So for me, Rokid is a completely different product line, completely new and much more expanded.

Please see it as an AI device. It's better than AI on our phones, better than AI on our computers, because we talk to it more, it's easier to hear, it's more compact, and it's always on our faces. At the same time, it still has the same features as the Ray-Ban Meta: it still takes photos, records video, serves as a teleprompter and guides. If you want to experience an all-in-one AI smart glasses, this is an option. Rokid is being sold at a price of about 16 to 17 million VND, equivalent to the special edition Ray-Ban Meta, while the regular Ray-Ban Meta is only about 10 million VND. Obviously this is a very special glass, and I think you should take full advantage of it. Honestly, this is the first time I've been so excited about a pair of glasses. Normally you find yourself excited about Ray-Ban Meta, but after using Rokid, I see it as a completely different category, extremely wonderful. An item that looks like regular glasses when worn, but gives you an assistant who is always by your side, can see, hear, answer in natural Vietnamese and lead you anywhere with just a word. To me, that is exactly what a wearable AI device should look like.

The glass surface when taking pictures looks like this. But in reality, when you wear it, outsiders don't see it that way. The wearer cannot see the screen as shown in the picture, but is normally still transparent glass. Only when there is content will the blue screen appear.

The glasses case does not have a battery. The battery will charge through the accessory inhaled into the frame of the glasses.

Can be charged while wearing.

Looks very simple.
