(Dan Tri) - On the morning of August 8, Samsung began delivering the first Galaxy Z Fold8, Z Fold8 Ultra and Z Flip8 to customers who pre-ordered in Vietnam.

At Samsung 68 Bitexco store, Ho Chi Minh City, some customers came to receive their phones on the first day. Ms. Dieu, living in Thu Duc Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, is one of the people who pre-ordered the Galaxy Z Fold8 at this store.

Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, Ms. Dieu said she used Galaxy Z Fold6 before switching to the new version. Work needs are one of the reasons why she continues to choose large-screen folding phones.

"I often use the phone to process Word and Excel files and check email information. The large screen helps me do these tasks more conveniently," Ms. Dieu said.

Mr. Vinh, who used to use Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Fold6, also chose to upgrade to the new generation. According to him, the changes in size and screen ratio are easily noticeable when compared to previous versions.

"The new screen ratio is more suitable for the needs of watching videos and image content. The device is lighter and the larger external screen also helps me operate conveniently," Mr. Vinh shared.

With the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, some customers said they are interested in the large screen and hardware changes. Mr. Kiet, who chose this version, said the 200MP camera was one of the factors he considered besides design and screen.

In the group of clamshell folding phones, the Galaxy Z Flip8 attracts users who are familiar with this design. Kathy, who has used the Galaxy Z Flip since the first generation, said the decision to upgrade mainly came from her habit of using compact devices.

"I like the compact design of the Z Flip series. The FlexCam feature also suits my photography needs," said Kathy.

The fact that Samsung started delivering the device takes place in the context of the folding phone segment having more and more options in Vietnam. Folding products no longer only focus on design but compete in terms of screen size, weight, camera, software and usage time.

According to Samsung, after 6 days of opening pre-orders in Vietnam, the 8th generation Galaxy Z trio recorded a number of orders 2.4 times higher than the previous generation. Galaxy Z Fold8 accounts for more than half of the total orders.

In Southeast Asia and Oceania, Samsung said the number of pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra increased by nearly 60% compared to the Galaxy Z Fold7. These are data announced by the company and do not reflect the entire folding phone market in these regions.

In Vietnam, Galaxy Z Fold8 has a listed price from 47 million VND for the 256GB version. Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra costs from 53 million VND, while Galaxy Z Flip8 costs from 32 million VND.

The fact that users continue to upgrade from previous generations shows that the group of customers who are familiar with folding phones is still one of the main targets of this product line.

However, the significantly higher price compared to bar phones is still the factor that makes the folding phone segment target a relatively narrow customer group.
