Samsung Builds an AI Health Ecosystem Spanning Phones and Watches

Samsung is moving toward an AI-driven health ecosystem in which phones, smartwatches and even home appliances share data to track a user's wellbeing. At the core sits the Samsung Health app, which collects this information and turns lifestyle changes into easy-to-read scores.

Leading the lineup are the Galaxy S26 phone and the Galaxy Watch8, tied together through the Galaxy AI platform. The approach lets devices do more than log isolated numbers, interpreting them into concrete suggestions tailored to each person.

Deeper sleep and health measurement

A highlight of the new Galaxy Watch is a vitals index that analyzes five sleep-related factors: heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, skin temperature and blood oxygen. The watch also adds a running baseline assessment, a heart health score and an antioxidant index that measures carotenoid levels in the skin.

The goal of all this data is to help users spot early warning signs and adjust their habits before problems become serious, rather than reacting only once clear symptoms appear.

A December 2024 survey of 18,168 adults across Southeast Asia and Oceania found average sleep of just 6 hours 59 minutes, falling short of WHO guidance.

In Vietnam specifically, the share of people reporting that they feel stressed ranged from 30 to 41 percent, underscoring real demand for tools that monitor health proactively.

To promote this health direction, Samsung is staging a Galaxy Run event on June 21 with roughly 5,000 expected participants, connecting its wearable hardware to real physical activity in the community.
